GEO-82 is a bar & lounge in Walt Disney World’s Epcot. Available for guests 21 and over, the chic and flashy spot serves cocktails, mocktails and shared plates. GEO-82 pays homage to the park it sits in, specifically the iconic Spaceship Earth. The bar & lounge are reservation only and don’t accept the Disney Dining Plan or offer discounts. In this post, we’ll review GEO-82’s atmosphere, menu and value.
“Epcot’s hottest spot is GEO-82. Opened on the backside of a giant golf ball, owner Bob Iger has gone all out! There’s square ice cubes with imprinted circles, lights that are globes and 40-year-old men weeping out of nostalgia. Stare out the windows at a face painted, Donald Duck hat wearing child throwing a tantrum all while you sip on a drink called Electron.” I’m not certain that’s how Stefon’s review of GEO-82 would go but he’d certainly be enticed by the exclusivity of the new lounge. Since opening in early June of 2025, GEO-82 has been the hardest dining reservation to score at Walt Disney World.
Even trying to find the entrance to the new spot has an air of exclusivity to it, as there’s minimal signage around the area. GEO-82 resides beneath Spaceship Earth. If the front of the park icon is the attraction queue then the lounge is the back. The lounge’s name itself is a nod to the park’s classic ride, as 1982 is the year it opened. The whole space, from the entrance to the actual seating is a nod to classic Epcot.
There have been a number of ‘for the fans’ projects in recent years at Epcot. Some of them have been more successful than others, some have never come to fruition. GEO-82 is the best execution of those, providing nostalgia and history into a modern and remade space.
Walking into the lounge, guests will see an understated check-in desk before ascending a few stairs (or using an elevator) to get to the waiting room. There’s a decent chance that guests will have to wait in that room for a few minutes but that’s not the worst thing. Soak it all in! A few different paintings are on the walls, showcasing artist’s renderings of Spaceship Earth. Some of these have some history. That whole room is very stylish, the textured walls and colors set up the silver and gold that the dining area shows off.
GEO-82 is a small space that’s been remade, which has pros and cons. The positive is that it’s an easier space to go all out with the decor. There’s no room for misplaced decorations or a section that doesn’t fit in as well as others. GEO-82 is beautiful throughout, always coming back to Spaceship Earth inspiration one way or another.
Large windows are at the back of the lounge, with views into World Celebration and parts of World Showcase. The lounge does offer a firework experience that’s a cool $179. We didn’t partake in that but there’s every reason to believe the view would be great, even if the price isn’t. The people watching is phenomenal from those window seats.
Sitting away from the windows isn’t a big loss though. There’s texture all over GEO-82, including the beautiful bar in the front and booth seating on the sides. The balance between comfortability and flash is walked carefully and ends up working well in this space.
One of my favorite features in GEO-82 is a simple one – the yellow-gold booth running into the silver, Spaceship Earth textured wall. It may not seem like much, and it’s nothing more than the side wall of the lounge, but it’s emblematic of the details seen throughout the entire lounge. GEO-82 is unabashedly reminding people of the attraction it’s inspired by. If you like Epcot or that attraction then you’ll enjoy the atmosphere.
The one downside of GEO-82’s atmosphere is that it’s loud. Since the lounge is 21+, you wouldn’t think that’d be a problem. But the space is small and not especially sound absorbent so there’s a lot of noises going on. This ends up being one of two big issues with the new lounge, as GEO-82 is aiming to be a classy place to order a cocktail but the loud setting doesn’t always jibe with that.
That complaint aside, GEO-82 is worth booking for the atmosphere alone. The work they’ve done in that space is exceptional and beautiful, one of the most pristine settings in Walt Disney World. On top of that, the homage paid to Spaceship Earth and Epcot is wonderfully done.
Moving to the food and drinks, here’s a look at the menu. This is probably a good spot to tell you that GEO-82 is very expensive. I’ll discuss the value (or lack thereof) after we run through what we ordered.
This is the Brown Butter Old Fashioned ($28) consisting of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon, Brown Butter, Maple and Hella Cocktail Co. Mexican Chocolate Bitters. If you like bourbon then you will probably like this, as it’s a high quality Old Fashioned that’s plenty strong. The Brown Butter and Maple are forward in the taste, adding sweetness. I don’t think it’s the best Old Fashioned on property but it’s an interesting take on a classic drink. I adored the ice cube mold.
This is a non-alcoholic option called A Walk Through the Garden ($17). Credit to GEO-82 for clearly putting thought into their mocktails. A Walk Through the Garden consisted of Seedlip Garden 108 Non-Alcoholic Spirit, Basil, Fennel, Lemon, Hella Cocktail Co. Orange Bitters, The Bitter Truth Celery Bitters and Bubbles. The drink was light and refreshing, with Lemon being the primary taste. Despite the word bitter appearing 3 times in the description, this wasn’t bitter at all. This is like an upscale, and more complex, lemon-lime soda.
Moving to the food, here we have the Chef’s Selection of Artisanal Cheeses, Cured Meats, and Accompaniments ($29). While the price tag is steep, the charcuterie plate was substantial and everything tasted extremely fresh. There was a lot to like here, specifically the Brittle, Jamon and Goat Cheese. If you’re coming into GEO-82 with a group then this is a good option. The downside to the charcuterie board is that no single ingredient was a star. With a menu that’s trying to be fairly complex (and generally succeeds), you miss out on some of the creative aspect with this option. Still, it was delicious!
Both Melissa and I preferred the Funghi Flatbread ($15) to the charcuterie. This was made up of Roasted Mushrooms, Miso-Mascarpone, Mozzarella, Fontina, Pickled Red Onion and Black Garlic Molasses. The Miso-Mascarpone was a standout here, I don’t think I’ve ever had it on pizza before. The rich taste was balanced out by the sweet Molasses. There was a hefty portion of Roasted Mushrooms on the flatbread, all seasoned wonderfully. I’d happily go back for this dish.
The food prices at GEO-82 are expensive but not, pardon the pun, out of this planet. A $15 flatbread isn’t strange at Walt Disney World, especially at a spot sit down spot. The portion size was a little smaller but not significantly so. $29 for the Chef’s Selection of Artisanal Cheeses, Cured Meats, and Accompaniments had a little more sticker shock. It’s probably a few dollars overpriced but I can see some of the reasoning behind it, when factoring in the portion size and quality.
The drink prices are the real issue at GEO-82. $28 for a cocktail is about $5 more than what I’ve paid for one at signature restaurants on property. Yes, the ingredients here are special but justifying a $28 drink is tough to do for most people. $17 for a mocktail is maybe more egregious. I’ve never seen a price that high before! The drink just isn’t worth that.
The bad value does make me wonder about GEO-82’s long-term prospects. But this is the hardest reservation to get in Walt Disney World outside of the newly opened Beak and Barrel. There’s not a single reservation open 60 days out from now. The drinks being expensive clearly isn’t driving people away! While I don’t think we personally will rush back to GEO-82, the new lounge is booked solid for the first 5 months of being open. I don’t see that slowing down anytime soon, which means they’ll raise the prices if anything.
If you can’t stomach the price of the cocktails then beer, wine and soft drinks are all available. That offers a cheaper way into the lounge, even if you won’t feel quite as much like Jay Gatsby once seated. Never thought I’d reference Stefon and Jay Gatsby in the same blog post but here we are.
Ultimately, GEO-82 is a spot worth checking out. That’s especially true for longtime Epcot fans. It’s a beautiful setting with good food and drinks. The prices may keep us away from returning often but we are glad we experienced GEO-82 and think it’s an excellent addition to Epcot.
Overall Rating – 8.5/10
