Walt Disney World Neighbor Hotel Review – Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs Resort

Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is a hotel near Walt Disney World in the Disney Springs area. The resort does offer shuttles to WDW as well as 30 minute Early Entry to the parks. Along with those amenities, Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is a quick walk away from Disney Springs. While offsite, the hotel does offer a somewhat cheap alternative to some on-site Walt Disney World options. In this post, we’ll review Wyndham Lake Buena Vista’s rooms, amenities, location and value, discussing whether it’s a viable place to stay for a trip to Disney World.

In past reviews of offsite Walt Disney World area hotels, we’ve stated our preference for staying on-site. I can’t say that our stance on this has changed dramatically, although we have started finding pockets where staying just outside of the Disney bubble has been beneficial. That generally comes down to value, as weekends at WDW can be expensive and there’s cheaper options elsewhere.

In a few ways, Wyndham Lake Buena Vista tries to erase the on-site advantage by offering much of what one of the Disney owned hotels offers. I already mentioned the hotel has Early Entry, which is the most beneficial of the on-site park benefits. The hotel is also closer to Disney Springs than almost any other hotel, less than a 10 minute walk away. Here’s what the walk looks like via Google Maps.

That 9 minutes is to the garage. Getting inside of Disney Springs itself takes even less time, as guests of the hotel basically just walk across a pedestrian bridge before getting to security. Theoretically, this makes the parks more accessible (if you don’t want to drive your own car) as you can just catch busses to parks and resorts from Disney Springs instead of waiting for the Wyndham shuttle, which has limited offerings. If you are staying here with a car then it’s a convenient enough jumping off location.

With location and Early Entry being an asset for this Disney Springs area hotel, there are a few disadvantages. I mentioned using the busses at Disney Spring, primarily because the one offered at the hotel isn’t all that convenient. Riding the resort option isn’t necessarily bad, just staying out late or getting to a park prior to rope drop is less of an option. Using a rideshare service for early mornings and late nights is probably your best bet.

Those topics are all comparative to amenities found at actual Disney hotels. Moving onto what the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista offers while on the resort grounds, let’s start with the rooms.

Wyndham Lake Buena Vista bed (1 of 1)

The room itself isn’t ugly and has enough decor to keep it away from being generic. That said, everything felt out of date. I wouldn’t say that the room felt dirty or anything but there were places where it was just easy to tell the room was on the older side. If you don’t mind the room photo above then you likely won’t mind the room’s aesthetic as a whole.

Wyndham Lake Buena Vista TV (1 of 1)

The TV and desk were normal hotel fare, and the lighting was okay although the whole room was a little dark.

Wyndham Lake Buena Vista other side of room (1 of 1)

This chair in the corner of the room was not a favorite of mine. The Wyndham’s tower did offer some nice views of the surroundings when you peeled the window curtains back.

This side of the bathroom looked like it had been refreshed in recent years, adding some personality to the room!

Wyndham Lake Buena Vista tub (1 of 1)

This side of the bathroom did not. The shower experience left something to be desired. You all probably don’t want to hear anymore about my shower experiences so I’ll leave at that. Again, nothing terrible but not all that good.

As a whole, we didn’t like the room very much. It was a pretty standard hotel room that is sufficient. It’s certainly better than some other hotel rooms we’ve stayed in while doing research. But the issue is that, for all intents and purposes, Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is battling Walt Disney World’s All Star Resorts for guest stays, seeing how they are typically in the same price range. The All Star rooms are significantly nicer than these.

While the rooms were lacking, the Wyndham’s other amenities were nice. We liked the pool area, with a nice splash pad as well as a larger pool size. There’s a large bar off to the side and a nice rock water feature in the middle of the pool. Who doesn’t love a large rock water feature?!

Other outdoor amenities include a hot tub, firepit, sand volleyball court and basketball court. There’s also a nice view of the lake back behind the resort. The grounds here are more spacious than I had assumed and we enjoyed looking around.

Wyndham’s lobby looked very good, bright and comfortable. Jetting off from the lobby is a coffee shop, bar, gift shop and arcade. There’s also plenty of areas to sit and relax, if so inclined. Deeper into the hotel is a restaurant which offers a buffet breakfast. All of these areas were nice and well maintained.

Everything offered at Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is more than adequate for a value stay at Walt Disney World. I mentioned earlier that people considering staying here are also likely considering the All Star Resorts. Therein lies the problem with this resort. I would pick the All Star Resorts over this spot and they are too often the same price. The enormous $40 resort fee at Wyndham is keeping it from being a good value play for a few nights at Disney World.

Once in a while, there are deals to be found, whether that’s on Priceline or through the hotel’s own discounts. If you can find Wyndham Lake Buena Vista more than $25 per night cheaper than the value resorts at WDW then it’s worth considering. Alternatively, we prefer the nearby Embassy Suites thanks to the larger rooms and other amenities offered. That said, they don’t offer Early Entry or as good of a location as this hotel does. Overall, we liked Wyndham Lake Buena Vista just fine but have a hard time finding where it fits into a Walt Disney World trip.

Overall Rating – 7/10
