Ranking the Table-Service Restaurants We’ve Eaten At – Tokyo Disney Resort

Our first few visits to Tokyo Disney Resort meant we were able to compile a decent list of favorite restaurants. We still like that list, as it includes both table-service and counter-service dining options. But now that we are able to frequent the park more often, we can add a ranking of the table-service restaurants like we have for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World! In this post, we’ll rank all of the table-service restaurants we’ve eaten at in Tokyo Disney Resort including both parks, resort hotels and Ikspiari.

Tokyo Disney Resort has some excellent restaurants throughout both parks and the rest of the resort. We’ve already done this style of post for the counter-service options and that list holds serve against, if not surpasses, what both stateside resorts offer. Of course, the food is different but not so drastically that it should scare anyone contemplating a trip to Japan. If anything, the dining options are an asset.

Seeing how we haven’t been to Tokyo Disney Resort as much as we want (which is every day), there are still a few table-service restaurants that have gone unranked. We’ll look to rectify that over the years and will update this list when we can. If there’s something missing from our list then leave a comment!

As a whole, Tokyo Disney Resort doesn’t have as many table-service restaurants inside of the theme parks as the Walt Disney World parks do. The numbers are similar to Disneyland Resort. With the lack of quantity comes a high level of quality. Deciding on an order was pretty difficult here, as there’s simply not a bad restaurant on the list. I’d be happy to revisit any of these and will likely do just that in the future.

A quick matter of business: I’ve decided to include lounges in these rankings if they serve meals. Basically, Teddy Roosevelt Lounge deserved a spot on one of the lists and I see it more as a table-service restaurant than I do a counter-service option. There aren’t many other rules that need to be followed here – if you go into a restaurant, sit at a table and get your order taken then we’re counting that as a table-service restaurant!

These rankings are predominantly based off of the food, atmosphere and value each restaurant possesses. I haven’t been appointed czar of Disney restaurants (at least not yet), so I can’t say these rankings are perfect. We keep our top secret ranking calculation locked up in a safe but I’ll attempt to be as fair as possible. Let’s get to it!

13. Mai Chibo (Ikspiari)

One of the benefits of not having as many table-service restaurants is that they’re all pretty good! Case in point, our last place finisher was still enjoyable. Mai Chibo specializes in okonomiyaki, a savory pancake dish made of wheat flour that is generally cooked on a teppan (flat griddle). The most common ingredients on top of the savory pancake are cabbage and some sort of meat. This was a pretty good version of this but I’ve had better throughout Japan. If you’re interested in trying okonomiyaki but your Japan trip is limited to Tokyo Disney Resort then this restaurant is worth checking out. Otherwise, I’d opt for a different spot.

12. Tonkatsu Wako (Ikspiari)

Another Ikspiari restaurant finishes second to last, although I did think Tonkatsu Wako was delicious. If we were rating solely by food then this probably jumps up to the middle of the pack. Along with that, the value is decent. But there’s nothing very unique about the experience here and the atmosphere is vanilla relative to the 11 restaurants above it. While the food is good, I wouldn’t say it’s exceptional like the third Ikspiari spot on the list. Still, you could do much worse than Tonkatsu Wako on a travel day.

11. Eastside Cafe (TDL)

If you’re looking for a stateside comp, Eastside Cafe is similar to Disneyland’s Carnation Cafe. This spot leans more Victorian in theme. Where they really differ is that Eastside Cafe features Italian food and has some references to that in the decor. I liked Eastside Cafe pretty well and found it to be a nice spot to have a break from the Tokyo Disneyland crowds. But the food didn’t stand out to me as overly ambitious or interesting.

10. Center Street Coffeehouse (TDL)

On the other side of World Bazaar from Eastside Cafe is Center Street Coffeehouse. We’ve only been to dinner here and I have read good things about their breakfast, so I’d like to try it. Their dinner features the iconic Baymax Curry (seen below) which is adorable and everything right in the world. The downside of that dish is that we liked the curry more at both of Tokyo Disney’s counter-service curry restaurants. As for the rest of the Center Street Coffeehouse experience, it’s a casual and quick meal that offers decent but not outstanding food.

9. Lotso Garden Cafe (Toy Story Hotel)

One of the more surprising meals we’ve had at Tokyo Disney Resort was this buffet breakfast at Toy Story Hotel. It was included in a vacation package we booked and we mainly went because we had already paid for it, so why not! We were pleasantly surprised by the versatile offerings that included both traditional Japanese food as well as some items you’d see at a western buffet. The decor is a little over the top, as is the case for all of Toy Story Hotel, but sitting by the window and looking out at Tokyo Bay was a nice way to spend the morning.

8. Oceano (Hotel MiraCosta)

I went back and forth on which hotel breakfast buffet to rank higher and settled on Oceano as it’s just a more pleasant experience. Just like Lotso’s, the food offered covers a wide range although Oceano tends to be a little fancier. I like the atmosphere here as the underwater theme isn’t hitting you over the head but does look very pretty. On top of that, there’s a wonderful observation deck to look at DisneySea from.

7. S.S. Columbia Dining Room (TDS)

Come for the atmosphere and stay for the… atmosphere. While we weren’t overly impressed with the meal at S.S. Columbia, at least relative to other DisneySea table-service spots, there’s no doubting the setting! Inside of the park’s giant ship, this gorgeous dining room is elegant and beautiful. Unfortunately, the cost matches that setting but this is definitely worth seeing if you’re a DisneySea frequenter.

6. Ippudo (Ikspiari)

One of the finest bowls of ramen you can get just happens to be inside of Ikspiari. Ippudo is an international chain at this point but that hasn’t diminished how good this bowl of soup is. The restaurant has a fun design, really diving into the ramen aesthetic with bowls and soup spoons all over. This is a perfect spot for a travel day or if you’re not going into the parks for a day. There’s good ramen all over Japan but this is one of the best I’ve ever had and is found at a very fair price.

5. Crystal Palace (TDL)

The top buffet on the list is this beautiful location in Tokyo Disneyland. Unlike the Walt Disney World counterpart, there are no characters here. But that’s more than made up for by the delightful desserts offered. If you’re nervous about eating in Japan, this is a good jumping off spot as you’ll be able to try a number of different things. I wouldn’t call the cuisine amazing but it is good for being a buffet. On top of that, this is one of the prettiest restaurants the resort has to offer.

4. Teddy Roosevelt Lounge (TDS)

Look, if this were simply ranked on food then Teddy Roosevelt Lounge would probably finish in last place. If this was ranked solely on atmosphere then Teddy Roosevelt Lounge finishes in the top 3, and maybe even first. The bar and lounge is one of the many wonders in Tokyo DisneySea. Why does it exist? Why did they go so hard on the theme? It’s all worth checking out even if we recommend just sticking to drinks here.

3. Restaurant Sakura (TDS)

This lovely restaurant in DisneySea’s American Waterfront offers up one of the best theme park meals we’ve had. With an elaborate backstory and a beautiful, secluded outdoor seating deck (the inside is nice but nothing beats the outside view), this could easily be number one on our list. The menu does change fairly often but they stick to seafood, which is always a safe bet in Tokyo Disney Resort. This may be the most relaxed meal we’ve had in Japan.

2. Ristorante di Canaletto (TDS)

We’ve dubbed this Disney’s prettiest restaurant and stand by it. The setting certainly helps, being in the gorgeous Venice portion of Mediterranean Harbor. Inside of the restaurant features elegant high ceilings and artwork all over the walls. If that’s not good enough for you then the outdoor seating looks over the canal boats and at Hotel MiraCosta. Not to be totally overshadowed, the pizza and pasta at Ristorante di Canaletto is delicious.

1. Magellan’s (TDS)

If Ristorante di Canaletto is the prettiest Disney restaurant then Magellan’s is the best themed restaurant. Don’t get your feelings hurt Magellan’s, you’re very pretty too! The elaborate backstory of the restaurant dives into theme park lore and has a sense of adventure. On the downside, Magellan’s has gotten more expensive over time but it’s still worth trying in our opinion, as they offer incredible food and in a setting unlike any other!
