Narcoossee’s Review

Narcoossee’s is a table-service restaurant at Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort. Fitting in alongside the seaside Victorian theme that the hotel offers, Narcoossee’s offers mostly seafood along with a few land options. The restaurant is on the Disney Dining Plan (2 table-service credits) while also offering discounts to Annual Passholders and Disney Visa cardholders. In this post, we’ll review the atmosphere, cuisine and value at Narcoossee’s!

Narcoossee's front (1 of 1)

There are plenty of restaurants in Walt Disney World that have beautiful locations. California Grill and Toledo offer rooftop views of the whole resort. San Angel Inn overlooks a ride and Chefs de France has prime World Showcase people watching. Space 220 gives you a view of the earth! Narcoossee’s joins that group of great views by sitting snuggly along Seven Seas Lagoon, with Magic Kingdom just a stone’s throw away. Do not throw rocks in the direction of the theme park, please.

Sitting right beside the Grand Floridian boat dock, the restaurant smartly faces toward Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary. There’s a deck that wraps around half of Narcoossee’s where guests can wait for their table or catch a few views after dinner. It’s a beautiful spot that fits into the coastal theme. The inside of the restaurant takes advantage of those views too, with windows along the outside wall.

The inside of Narcoossee’s received a major remodel in 2023, getting an all new ceiling and going with a wide open floor plan. A refresh was needed, since the restaurant opened in 1998. There is a very clean look to the inside of Narcoossee’s now, opting for a very modern and beachy design.

The aforementioned new ceiling is very pretty, with a brown wood that is mirrored in the flooring, bar, and booths. That color stands out against the softer blues and greens in the restaurant. The ceiling’s height is also very impressive, not quite a dome but octagonal and detailed.

Unfortunately, the rest of Narcoossee’s atmosphere comes off as a little bland to us. There’s nothing wrong with it, as the restaurant looks nice and is well maintained since the remodel. It’s just lacking personality and is very laid back. I do think that the laid back choice is (mostly) intentional but instead of being both laid back and luxurious, the restaurant can feel more casual.

Even then, there’s nothing wrong with a casual restaurant. But the menu offerings and prices don’t match that design resulting in Narcoossee’s feeling caught in between. In terms of the signature restaurants in Walt Disney World, this is one of our least favorite in terms of decor and atmosphere. The saving grace is the lake view, where you could see the Electrical Water Pageant going by and Magic Kingdom’s fireworks if you’re late enough into the night. If you’re seated by a window at Narcoossee’s then the experience is definitely heightened.

Narcoossee's bar (1 of 1)

The bar area is also pretty, fully utilizing the tall ceiling and adding in some Victorian flourishes. I don’t want the last few paragraphs to completely turn people off of Narcoossee’s either, the whole restaurant is beautiful. My complaint is more that it just feels generic and a little too casual compared to what the menu is offering.

Speaking of, here’s a look at that menu! Entrees are in the $40 and $50 range, with one huge exception that we’ll get to below. As you might expect from the setting, Narcoossee’s focuses on seafood with a few ‘land’ options if you don’t want to get fishy.

Narcoossee's bread and butter (1 of 1)

The bread service came with a fairly large sourdough loaf and sea salt butter. It tasted very fresh and the butter pushed it up a level. While not our favorite bread service on property, this was an excellent way to start the meal.

Narcoossee's wine (1 of 1)

I mentioned earlier that Narcoossee’s does take part in the Disney Dining Plan as a 2-credit restaurant. Signature restaurants are almost always a bad deal if you’re taking part in the DDP. This restaurant is an exception to that rule though, offering the Surf & Turf on the DDP as well as some very expensive drinks. The wine and champagne we tried were each over $30 per glass, that’s the most expensive I’ve seen offered on the Dining Plan. They were both tasty!

Narcoossee's surf & turf lobster (1 of 1)

Here is the Surf & Turf! This includes Filet Mignon, Butter-poached Lobster Tail, Chive Mashed Potatoes, Confit Carrot and Cipollini Onion, Red Onion Jam, and Au Poivre. If you’re on the Disney Dining Plan then get this, full stop. The Butter-poached Lobster Tail was the highlight, letting the Lobster meat show off. The butter added a touch more flavor and it was poached to perfection. I could see this letting someone down if they were expecting something more unique but this doesn’t complicate things and is delicious because of it.

The Filet Mignon was very tender, as well. I was less impressed by the Au Poivre sauce which didn’t enhance the steak. As far as steak in Walt Disney World, this was a good one but a step below the best I’ve had as the flavors didn’t quite surpass others.

The sides were good, specifically the Chive Mashed Potatoes. They were extremely creamy and buttery, so what’s not to like? The carrots and onions were also tasty but a little bit of an afterthought.

This dish is $89 and not one we’d recommend if you’re paying out of pocket. It’s very good but we’ve had better entrees in Walt Disney World that were $40 less than that. Keeping the Surf & Turf on the Disney Dining Plan does give the dish a great value for those utilizing that option. That’s especially true if you like lobster as much (or even half as much) as I do.

Narcoossee's dessert berries (1 of 1)

For dessert, we had the Almond-crusted Cheesecake served with Lambert Cherry Sauce and Chantilly. At $17, this was an excellent dessert. Between the Cheesecake, Almonds, and Cherry Sauce there was a lot of texture to the dessert. We loved the brightness that the sauce added to the otherwise rich dish. We’d happily get this again!

Narcoossee's chocolate dessert (1 of 1)

They also served a Chocolate Bread Pudding when we were there, but the menu rotates often and this seems to be seasonal. It was delicious, gooey and warm and perfectly paired with the vanilla ice cream. I wouldn’t be surprised if this dessert comes back for during summers. If it does, we recommend it!

Our dinner at Narcoossee’s was a very nice experience but could never rise above that to become special. We like the restaurant’s atmosphere and decor, especially by the windows, but don’t love it. The same was true for the food, as it was excellent but nothing we’re rushing back to try! If seafood is a favorite of yours then this is a pretty good, albeit expensive, option. All in all, we like Narcoossee’s but can’t recommend it over some of the other Walt Disney World signature restaurants.

Overall Rating – 8.5/10
