Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood Review

Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood is a table-service restaurant at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort. Residing at the top of the Gran Destino Tower, Toledo offers exactly what it says it will all while the menu having a bit of a Spanish flair. The restaurant does take part in the Disney Dining Plan as 1 credit while also offering a Passholder and Disney Visa discount. This post reviews Toledo’s atmosphere, cuisine and value!

In the past, Coronado Springs Resort has been far from my favorite when it comes to Walt Disney World hotels. In 2019, Disney leaned even farther into Coronado being the ‘convention hotel’ with the addition of Gran Destino Tower. That has largely been met with positive reviews and has also brought a renewed emphasis on dining at the hotel! The crown jewel of all of those changes is Toledo.

Disney World has been taking advantage of the rooftop setting in their latest hotel builds, including Topolino’s Terrace at the Riviera and now Toledo. To get to the top of the Gran Destino Tower, guests take an elevator from the lobby. Stairs might be more fitting depending on the amount of steak you plan to gorge on!

Once up there, Toledo will be on the left and a lounge/waiting area is on the right. Right outside of the lounge is a beautiful observation deck that overlooks Disney World’s horizon including Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Animal Kingdom. You might have to squint a little harder for some of those than others but it’s a nice view, regardless.

Once inside of the restaurant, I loved the design of Toledo. There’s a modern touch as well as Disney’s usual theming. In certain restaurants, the theme can take away from the elegance and that’s usually a tradeoff that I’m okay with. Toledo strikes the balance between elegance and theme perfectly and neither one takes away from the other. This is an elevated dining experience from Disney World’s typical restaurant. And no, I’m not talking about this being on the rooftop!

Toledo colorful

Everywhere you look in the restaurant has different, but complimentary, texture. The flooring has diamonds and the wall has slightly larger diamonds. Toledo’s ceiling has different patterns throughout, as do the chairs and booths. Add in the beautiful olive trees throughout the restaurant and the atmosphere settles into a comfortable and modern Tuscan design. The ceiling slowly changes colors throughout the meal to give off some beautiful oranges and pinks. It’s probably the grabbiest feature of Toledo.

Toledo open kitchen

Other beautiful aspects of the restaurant include an open kitchen, floor to ceiling windows overlooking Hollywood Studios and an impressive wine case. All of these would be pleasant to sit by. With so many features, Toledo still manages to feel open. There isn’t any stuffiness, everything speaks for itself. The entire restaurant is designed thoughtfully, making Toledo’s atmosphere exceptional.

Moving on to the food, here’s a look at the menu. Toledo’s full name will tell you what the restaurant is all about – tapas, steak and seafood! To be honest, I stuck to the middle one and dragged Melissa along for the ride.

Toledo steak

We ordered the Chuletón Bone-In Rib-Eye for Two. I was somewhat surprised to hear that this was on the Disney Dining Plan (for 2 people, of course) and once I found that out, I couldn’t help myself. Melissa graciously obliged and, before we knew it, there was approximately 37 ounces of steak set before us. It was nicely cut into strips already. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium rare. I enjoyed it more than Melissa, as a Rib-Eye is a little fatty for her, but we both found it delicious. There was a nice sear on top, giving the steak a tiny bit of char to go along with a slight seasoning. Really, it was the delicious taste of steak that shined through. I was living my best Ron Swanson life!

Toledo mashed potatoes

Two sides came with the Rib-Eye. We chose the Olive Oil Potato Puree as one. This was like a really finely whipped mashed potato, with a creamy and olive oil taste. Potatoes are a vegetable so these were clearly healthy… But judging by the wonderful butter and oil taste, I’m not sure a fitness guru would agree. Good thing no one is confusing me with a fitness guru!

Toledo brussel sprouts

We also ordered the Brussel Sprouts and those fit into the healthy category slightly more. There was plenty of seasoning to them and a nice char to give a crisp but sweet flavor. We liked the other options a little bit more than this but still enjoyed the side.

Toledo drink

The meal for 2 ends up being a sneaky good value on the Disney Dining Plan. It comes out to $57.50 per person. Once you add in a drink from Toledo’s impressive selection then you should be over $70 easily. For what it’s worth, I had a Manhattan and it was the best drink I had all trip. Once you add in the dessert, the meal is well over $80 per person and that’s nearly the price of the Disney Dining Plan for a day. If paying out of pocket, I might go with one of the other options but this is a great way to go for those on the Plan!

In subsequent trips we’ve tried different entrees, including the Filet of Beef pictured above. This is served with Forest Mushrooms, Red Wine-Date Demi and Truffle Vinaigrette. While this didn’t wow us as much as the Rib-Eye, it was still very good. The meat was tender and had the right amount of seasoning on it. Having that steak served over mashed potatoes had us living our best Ron Swanson life. This is $41 (as of February 2025) which falls in line with most steaks around WDW, although this one is better than most.

Toledo Scallops Coronado (1 of 1)

We’ve also tried the scallops at Toledo. They seem to come and go from the menu depending on the season. These were cooked very well and elegantly presented with a variety of sauces and purees, each one as good as the next. While I did prefer the two meat selections, I thought this was a really good dish and did nothing to dissuade my high opinion of the restaurant. I don’t think you can really go wrong with any entree here.

Toledo cheesecake

Speaking of dessert, this is an Almond Lemon Cheesecake. To Melissa’s dismay, it isn’t on the menu right now. This really was fantastic and her favorite thing that she ate the entire trip. In fact, it was good enough for me to recommend any cheesecake they might have as a specialty dessert!

Toledo chocolates

I ordered the ‘Toledo’s Tapas Bar’. This dessert has diners tasting the flavors of Spanish Coffee, crunchy Chocolate, Raspberry Mousse and Lemon Curd. It doesn’t entirely work as a candy bar with a different flavor in each bite but I really enjoyed the option. The Spanish Coffee and Lemon Curd were my two favorite bites. I enjoyed the dish as a next level take on a pretty common dessert.

Toledo Banana bar dessert Coronado (1 of 1)

This is the Chocolate Ganache Tart which is served with a plant-based coconut ice cream. The chocolate ganache with the glazed bananas was a fantastic combo. I liked but didn’t love the coconut ice cream but the rest of the dessert more than made up for it. Every dessert we’ve tried at Toledo has been excellent, just like the entrees.

The Spanish flair throughout Toledo is subtle but well done, whether talking about the food or decor. The restaurant fits into Coronado Springs in an elevated way. Okay, that time it was meant as a joke about Toledo residing on the 16th floor.

Toledo Orange Flan Coronado (1 of 1)

If you couldn’t tell by now, I was blown away by Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood! The atmosphere was elegant but themed, comfortable yet thoughtful. Add on that this was the best meal I’ve had in Walt Disney World in a long time and Toledo has become one of my favorite restaurants in Walt Disney World. I’m surprised that the prices aren’t higher, as most of the entrees are under $40 and Toledo only counts as 1-credit on the Disney Dining Plan. The atmosphere and food amount to something more. Not that we’re complaining! This is part of the reason that Toledo is now one of WDW’s best restaurants.

Overall Rating – 9.5/10
