Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Preview Dates & Details

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens up in just a few weeks! The speedy coaster has changed the preshow and story from featuring Aerosmith to joining the Kermit, Scooter and the Electric Mayhem. Ahead of the grand opening, Walt Disney World has announced that there will be Annual Passholder, DVC and Cast Member previews. In this post, we’ll share those details as well as how to ride during the previews.

We’ve entered the home stretch with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets officially opening on May 26th. Disney has announced the ride’s setlist along with plenty of photos and details. With the date being so close and the project’s turnaround being quick, fitting in previews seemed difficult. It might still be difficult, we don’t really know, but they’re doing them one way or another! We’ll start with the Annual Passholder previews and details.

Annual Passholder Previews

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is ready to take center stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 26th. Passholders will have an opportunity to preview this high-speed thrill ride straight to The Electric Mayhem’s big night, before it roars back to life for all Walt Disney World Guests. Passholder previews will take place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios May 21, 22 and 23.

How To Experience Previews for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets:

  • First, make a theme park reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios to have an opportunity to request to join the virtual queue at 7:00 AM for that day.
  • Next, on the day of the preview, it’s time to request to join the virtual queue using the My Disney Experience app. There will be 3 opportunities to join each day of previews at the following distribution times:
    • The 7:00 AM virtual queue distribution will be available to Passholders with a theme park reservation to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for that day.
    • The 11:00 AM virtual queue distribution will be available to Passholders with a park reservation to any theme park for that day. As a reminder, Passholders must enter the theme park where they have a reservation prior to visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
    • The 3:00 PM virtual queue distribution will be available to any Passholder with valid admission. A park reservation to a theme park is not required.
    • You do not need to have entered a theme park to join the virtual queue.

Please note that a virtual queue for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will only be used during previews. A virtual queue is not planned for when the attraction officially opens on May 26.

A Photo Perk During Passholder Previews
Disney PhotoPass Service will capture the thrills for you! During Passholder preview dates, Passholders participating in a preview can enjoy complimentary downloads of their Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets attraction photo.

DVC Previews

Disney Vacation Club has shared in an Instagram post that it will also be offering a preview of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. You can see the post below but here is the caption:

DVC Members, get ready to jam and jet! You’ll be among the first to experience Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets and Soarin’ Across America before they open on May 26, 2026. Eligible Members with a qualifying Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation on the event dates are automatically registered for these special experiences. If that’s you, keep an eye on your inbox for additional event details!

In an additional comment, DVC announced that the Priority Access Dates (not sure why they capitalized this but it does make it feel more important) will be May 21st for Soarin’ Across America and May 24th for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.

The post eludes to all Walt Disney World hotel reservations being applicable and not just DVC reservations, as long as you have a DVC membership. We don’t know that for sure yet and will be awaiting more news from DVC. It doesn’t appear that either attraction will use a virtual queue for the Disney Vacation Club preview day.

Cast Member Preview

Walt Disney World Cast Members can sign up for previews beginning on May 6th. That’s tomorrow! Cast Members should either receive an email or can sign into the CastLife website and select a time from there. That May 6th date pertains to both Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets and Soarin’ Across America.

Commentary

We don’t have much to add here but are excited to see Walt Disney World lock in preview dates. This isn’t an extended preview time. We haven’t seen the Cast Member dates as of yet but everything else falls within a week of the actual opening date.

With no previews scheduled for May 25th, I expect the attraction to open to everyone a day earlier than announced. It’s possible that there will be media previews throughout that day but full park hours dedicated to that seems unlikely. May 25th is Memorial Day so you could see a larger than usual Monday crowd in the parks. I still find it strange that so many of Walt Disney World’s new offerings are beginning the Tuesday after Memorial Day Weekend. Maybe it was incentive for guests to extend their trips?

I’m happy to see that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets won’t be using a virtual queue once it fully opens. I assumed that would be the case but now it is confirmed. There’s no need for it. The first few days (or weeks) of operation will be very busy but the virtual queue system is flawed and moving to a standby line is the fairest way to open the ride.

We’re eager to see the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets and will be in Walt Disney World during the previews! Stay tuned for our review of the reimagined ride, which I will write while wearing a Dr. Teeth costume. Photo evidence will not be shared.
