The Electric Mayhem have fired up the van and are almost to the show! Walt Disney World has announced the opening date for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets at Hollywood Studios as well as more details about the ride experience. In this post, we’ll share that date and information including the on-ride setlist.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets takes over for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith in Hollywood Studios. The project was announced last year, prior to MuppetVision closing. The Aerosmith version of this ride ran in one form or another into 2026 before closing and making way for the Muppets takeover. Imagineering was smartly updating the ride prior to closing, including a new pre and post show.
Opening Date for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets
Updating the ride prior to closing needed to be done because this turnaround time has been next to nothing! Starting May 26, the legendary ride roars back to life with a rock-charged remix that drops guests straight into the middle of The Electric Mayhem’s biggest night yet. With high-speed thrills, a pulse pounding soundtrack, and a VIP list like no other, this reimagined attraction hits all the right notes.

With the opening date officially set for May 26, the band is warming up and the L.I.M.O. engines are revving. So grab your shades. Prepare those vocal cords. This concert is about to go from rehearsal to headline act. All information on previews for Annual Passholders, Cast Members and DVC Members can be found in this post.
We’ll share more thoughts on the opening date below in the commentary section.
Cue the Music: The Set List Is Locked
What’s a rock show without a killer set list? For Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, the music takes center stage. The Electric Mayhem teamed up with some of rock’s biggest names to deliver a lineup of tracks designed to crank the adrenaline from the loading zone to the final brake run.
Here’s what’s on the set list:
- Song 2 – The Electric Mayhem
- Born To Be Wild – The Electric Mayhem ft. Camilla the Chicken
- Love Rollercoaster – The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennifer Hudson & Questlove
- Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop) – The Electric Mayhem ft. Def Leppard
- Walking on Sunshine – The Electric Mayhem ft. Kelly Clarkson

Each song brings its own energy, tempo, and attitude, creating a concert style experience where the soundtrack doesn’t just play – it goes from zero to sixty in three… two… one! And like any great show, the fun doesn’t stop with the final note.
While there haven’t been many details on what this entails, it appears that there will be a post show with more Electric Mayhem. These photos were shown from Disney Parks social accounts a few days ago. We’re curious how this will fit into the attraction!

Electric Mayhem Storyline
The attraction is based on Electric Mayhem putting on a show. Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd, Janice, Zoot, and Lips are ready to rock the house – and everyone who’s anyone will be there.
There’s just one little problem – the band is nowhere to be found. Your VIP tour kicks off inside G-Force Records—an iconic rock-and-roll recording studio where the magic (and mayhem) is just getting started.
Star-Studded Halls of Rock
G-Force Records is opening its legendary doors, giving you a peek at where the melodic magic takes place. Things might look a little different around this Hollywood institution, as the label has recently come under new management!

We’re happy to say that our colorful crew has landed some new digs… with just a little help from Scooter’s uncle, real estate tycoon and owner of the Muppet Theatre, J.P. Grosse.

With posters in every corner highlighting the iconic band’s larger-than-life career, you’ll have plenty of groovy backgrounds to strike your best pose. I’m begging you Disney, put a few of these posters for sale in the gift shop. I will buy them, I promise!
While you’re taking it all in, keep your eyes open. Sharp-eyed guests will spot celebrity cameos woven throughout the experience, starting in the queue and continuing all the way through the merch shop. You might get to spot:
- Awkwafina
- Danny Trejo
- Darren Criss
- John Stamos
- Neil Patrick Harris
- Travis Barker
- Yvette Nicole Brown
- Wayne Brady
- “Weird Al” Yankovic

All of this new information fits in to the broader story that Disney shared earlier this year. That includes guests being welcomed inside the recording studio, where you’ll find The Electric Mayhem cranking out the familiar tunes of Can You Picture That? as they rehearse for their big concert. You’ll be immersed in the story with the first-ever Audio-Animatronics figure of Scooter, who’s joined by the finest audio engineers (all penguins, of course). They’re doing their best to convince The Electric Mayhem to stop jamming and get to their increasingly restless fans, but will it be enough to get the band across town and on stage in time?
Thanks to the newest technological advancements from Muppets Labs, we’ll board a super-powered vehicle in the alleyway just behind Studio C known as the Lengthy Immediate Motion Object (L.I.M.O.)!

Commentary
I’ll reiterate that I’m thrilled about this project. There’s a chance that this feels more like a makeover than anything and I’m trying to guard my expectations knowing that. But it’s clear that someone (or multiple someones) in Imagineering loves the Muppets. Every hint about how they’re utilized in this new look attraction seems thought out and on point.
Before I go any farther, I should say that I’m a huge Muppets fan. While I might be critical of how Disney has used them at times, I will unabashedly celebrate when something involving them is a huge success. Speaking of, have you watched The Muppet Show special on Disney+? You really should! I’m not getting paid to say that, I just genuinely love the Muppets.

My biggest cause for concern with this whole project is just how fast it’s all happening. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith closed on March 2nd. This opening date was announced on April 16th. It’s very feasible that previews start prior to the ride being closed for 2 months! That’s a ridiculously fast turnaround for modern day Disney.
With that in mind, I have a hard time seeing how the on-ride experience is going to be much different. Props have probably been moved around or repurposed but the ride’s plot line has stayed very similar so it makes sense that the bones of the attraction won’t change much.
It’s the pre and post shows that are the meat and potatoes of this project. I’m very excited to see the Scooter animatronic and any other Muppets that show up beyond Electric Mayhem. Seeing the band play in whatever the post show is has me more intrigued than anything, I’m hoping that’s something that guests can linger at.

As for the set list, it’s a nice collection of songs with some good variance. I had hoped for one Electric Mayhem original while on the ride but the good news is that Can You Picture That? will be playing in the pre-show and then whatever’s happening after the ride should feature more songs.
The different songs should add to the attraction’s re-rideability and I’m happy that the Muppets pulled in some big time guest stars to play with them. My very quick ranking of the songs (this feels very necessary) based on how excited I am for them is:
- Song 2 – The Electric Mayhem
- Born To Be Wild – The Electric Mayhem ft. Camilla the Chicken
- Walking on Sunshine – The Electric Mayhem ft. Kelly Clarkson
- Love Rollercoaster – The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennifer Hudson & Questlove
- Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop) – The Electric Mayhem ft. Def Leppard
That’s the information we have for now. I’ll be updating this post once we find out more about previews. Until then, we’ll keep rockin’!

I’m going into this new ride with no expectations because I don’t love the setlist (I was expecting more classic rock bangers), but I really want to give this ride a chance because of my love for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. I also think the psychedelic vibe of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets is really cool, especially with the colorful electric guitar at the ride’s entrance.
I’m really hoping for the best! I won’t be hard to please because of my love for the Muppets but do expect the actual ride to stay largely the same. We’ll find out soon!
Yes, I hope the Muppet fans will enjoy this new version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster because it was devastating to lose Muppet Vision 3D. I’ll keep an eye out for reviews once the new ride opens!
We’ll be there for opening day! I’m excited for it.
Nice! I’m looking forward to your review of the new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster then!
