New Stage Show Coming to Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland

Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland continues to morph and take shape ahead of the new Space Mountain coming in 2027. Along with a new Wreck-It Ralph ride coming next year, Oriental Land Company has announced a new stage show taking over the Showbase Theater. The new show will debut this fall. In this post, we’ll share details about the show before adding our commentary.

Tokyo Disney Resort announced that a new entertainment program, “The D-Groovationz4 Live: Happy! Funky! Groovy! Tour” (what a name!), will premiere on September 30, 2026, at Showbase, located in Tomorrowland at Tokyo Disneyland Park. Club Mouse Beat, the show currently in Showbase, will hold its last performance on March 31st.

“The D-Groovationz4 Live: Happy! Funky! Groovy! Tour” is a stage show centered on live vocals, performed by the super vocal & dance group “The D-Groovationz4.” Together with Micky Mouse and other Disney friends, The D-Groovationz4 will hold an exhilarating concert to showcase the power of music and how it brings people together.

With new songs and fresh spins on Disney classics, The D-Groovationz4 and Disney friends will wow audiences in this captivating show. During the performance, the worlds of Walt Disney Animation Studios films Wreck-It Ralph and Big Hero 6 will appear onstage, and Vanellope and Baymax join the show. This will be Vanellope and Baymax’s first time appearing in a stage show at Tokyo Disney Resort.

During the show, when the worlds of the Disney films Wreck-It Ralph and Big Hero 6 appear, Vanellope and Baymax will make their debut in a Tokyo Disney Resort stage show! Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy will also make appearances.

The D-Groovationz4 Live: Happy! Funky! Groovy! Tour will last roughly 25 minutes and be shown 4 or 5 times each day. 12 dancers and 4 singers will be in the production.

Commentary

First things first, I cannot get over the name of this show. I’ve tried to type out The D-Groovationz4 Live: Happy! Funky! Groovy! Tour 5 different times now. I’m averaging 4 mistakes each time. At this point, I’ve resorted to copy and pasting the name. It’s a name so ridiculous that I can’t help but love it.

I assume that the 4, confusingly tacked on after the z, refers to the amount of singers in the group. That’s the safe assumption. But did I second guess myself on that enough to where I researched if there were 3 other iterations of The D-Groovationz? Absolutely! Does the D in the name just stand for Disney? We’ll never know.

What’s that? The D-Groovationz4 is not even half of the title? How could I forget that this is live and part of the Happy! Funky! Groovy! Tour? Technically, I think this is more of a residency situation but ‘Tour’ isn’t among the 5 most ridiculous words in the title so we’ll just let that slide.

Three paragraphs is probably enough joking about the name. I do find it hilarious but, you know, it kind of fits the vibe of the Baymax Happy Ride in Tokyo Disneyland. That attraction is near Showbase. If the silliness is turned up a notch on this new look Tomorrowland, I won’t complain. That could make the land unique and add a different take on it.

As for the actual show, adding it to the foray is good news for Tokyo Disneyland. I don’t mind the predecessor, Club Mouse Beat, but there was room for improvement. It’s also been roughly 5 years since Club Mouse Beat debuted and Tokyo Disney Resort hardly ever keeps shows around past that timeframe. The D-Groovationz4 sounds similar to what it’s replacing except there appears to be an emphasis on live vocals. I’m curious how much that actually comes to fruition but always appreciate that idea.

Looking at Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland more broadly, this land has had a total makeover since 2020. The Happy Ride with Baymax opened in September of that year. Since then, nearly everything has been changed out or upgraded save for Star Tours and Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek. I wonder if the former could see some downtime or a retheme in the future.

This was a savvy move by the Oriental Land Company. They never came out and said that Tomorrowland was being redone and I didn’t expect this many years ago when they announced a Big Hero 6 flat ride. But the pieces have fallen into place since then and it will all culminate in a brand new Space Mountain in 2027. Oriental Land Company is betting big on that ride, sparing no expense.

Having a somewhat new stage show to pair with Wreck-It Ralph and Space Mountain will add another layer of freshness and buzz to Tomorrowland. I’m excited to see the show in the fall. I’ll hopefully have the name down by then.
