Top Ten Walt Disney World Rides Without a Height Limit

Walt Disney World is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world. That includes families looking for a fun trip where everyone can participate. While there are plenty of thrill rides that have a height limit, Disney World features many attractions without restrictions. In this post, we’ll count down our top ten rides at WDW without a height limit.

This post doesn’t just need to be for those with young kids. All of the rides in the top 10 are great no matter what age you are. Some of them lean adult in content but the ride system allows for no height limit. I’m not just judging based on what is best for kids, although I don’t think any of these picks should be missed by families. Four of these rides end up in my Walt Disney World Top Ten Attraction post and a few others just barely miss the cut. There’s a lot of quality here!

On the flip side, families should still experience attractions with height limits when going to Walt Disney World no matter how small the kids are. Rider swap is available on attractions with height limits, allowing parents (or whoever stays with the kids) to swap who is riding and who is entertaining the children. Obviously, those rides aren’t what we’re ranking today but it’s worth keeping in mind for those going with those who aren’t quite tall enough.

The only criteria I have for this post is that the attractions can’t have a height limit and it has to be a physical ride. No walkthrough or short film attractions are allowed, with regards to Impressions de France and Journey of Water in Epcot. In terms of Wandering in Disney criteria, there aren’t a lot of qualifiers!

Frozen Ever After Snowball Epcot (1 of 1)

There are a few rides that just narrowly missed the list. A couple of more recent additions would be in the top 15 including Epcot’s Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure as well as Toy Story Mania in Hollywood Studios. The Walt Disney World Railroad as well as transportation like the boats, monorail and Skyliner all deserve a shoutout. Classic spinners like Dumbo didn’t make the list either. That pretty well covers our honorable mentions. Let’s get to the list!

10. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway (DHS)

Our lone Hollywood Studios entrant narrowly edges out Toy Story Mania. Your mileage may vary in that choice. Runaway Railway is a family ride, with a series of quick vignettes that somewhat fit together mimicking the iconic Mickey short films. There are certainly issues with MMRR but it’s a fun ride for all ages in a park that desperately needs more of those.

9. Living with the Land (Epcot)

There’s no height limit here but I can’t promise that the kids will like this pick! But that’s not what the top 10 list is about. Living with the Land enters our list thanks to embodying Epcot’s original mission and still being an excellent boat attraction. Bonus points to this ride at Christmas time, when it’s adorned with a fun overlay!

8. “it’s a small world” (MK)

Speaking of boat rides, Small World is iconic! As I get older, I like the ride more and more. There’s not a more hopeful attraction than this one. Of course, the song might get on some people’s nerves and the dolls might haunt your dreams but it’s a small world is a beautiful and original attraction that is integral to the Disney Parks.

7. TTA PeopleMover (MK)

The most relaxing ride at Disney World takes guests above Tomorrowland and through Space Mountain, Buzz and more. It’s a small peek behind the curtain while still on a ride. This is also a nice spot to just put your feet up and relax for 10 minutes. The PeopleMover has a large cult following at this point and it’s on the verge of being a little overrated but it easily earns a spot on this list.

6. Pirates of the Caribbean (MK)

While this is my least favorite version of Pirates, it is still an excellent ride. The animatronics and queue are the highlights here, both with incredible detailing. This is also a great attraction to start excited but nervous kids on, with the small drop and slightly spooky tone that is overshadowed by how much fun it is.

5. Spaceship Earth (Epcot)

This ride through history is a must-do, inside of Epcot’s icon. There’s some interactivity for those with shorter attention spans and wonderful animatronics to look at throughout. I’ll admit that Spaceship Earth is in desperate need of a lengthy refurbishment. A new script wouldn’t hurt either! But the ride is still beautifully made and an Imagineering feat.

4. Peter Pan’s Flight (MK)

One of the best Fantasyland dark rides ever built, Peter Pan’s Flight still captures the imagination. Having the ship soar over London and into Neverland never gets old. Timeless and ageless, there aren’t many rides like this one!

3. Jungle Cruise (MK)

Pretty much everything I said about Peter Pan’s Flight could be applied to Jungle Cruise. I especially like Magic Kingdom’s version of this ride, with the temple attached. Jungle Cruise embraces the family ride, offering something for everyone. Jokes might fly right over kids’ heads (don’t worry, so will the tigers that jump 15 feet and not 10) but the animatronics emerging from the water won’t.

2. Haunted Mansion (MK)

Like Pirates, Haunted Mansion will make kids feel brave. While parts of this classic attraction get spooky, the playful spirit(s) of Haunted Mansion is really what’s remembered. Moving away from the family-friendliness, this is just downright one of the best attractions in all of Walt Disney World. The story is fantastic, each scene more mesmerizing than the last.

1. Kilimanjaro Safaris (AK)

Who doesn’t love a safari? Animal Kingdom’s flagship ride takes guests through the savannah and beyond, passing by many animals along the way. The scale of Kilimanjaro Safaris is unmatched within a theme park and the beauty of the ride speaks for itself. It doesn’t matter your height or age on this ride, passing giraffes, lions and rhinos is always spectacular.
