Using Priority Pass at Tokyo DisneySea

A day at Tokyo DisneySea is a full day. Whether focused on just attractions or trying to soak in the full ambiance of the park, there is no shortage of things to do. Thankfully, the park still uses a form of free FastPass that they now call Priority Pass. In this post, we’ll go through what attractions are the best and worst uses of Priority Pass at Tokyo DisneySea.

For now, Priority Pass is termed as a free offering that was in honor of the resort’s 40th anniversary. The 40th anniversary celebration has passed but the Priority Pass continues to be offered without guests having to purchase anything! We’ll hope it sticks around for a while. Going to a resort that offers free FastPass is nostalgic and, more importantly, a big help to touring the theme park.

Before we get into the actual attractions, here’s a brief breakdown on the verbiage used at Tokyo Disney Resort and how to book Priority Passes once inside the park. Not everything is free at Tokyo Disney, unfortunately. A few attractions have a ‘pay to skip the line’ feature. This is called Disney Premier Access and is the same as Individual Lightning Lanes at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. The attractions that use Disney Premier Access at Tokyo DisneySea are:

Paying for a few attractions via Premier Access is advisable, especially with Fantasy Springs open. I’d recommend spending the money on actual rides over the nighttime show, as there’s plenty of viewing opportunities without paying for that.

Moving on, Priority Pass is the term used for what was formerly known as FastPass. If you want to make it a priority to pass the line fast, book these! Is this my best joke? Absolutely not.

You can book Priority Pass through the Tokyo Disney Resort app. Make sure all of your group has their park tickets linked inside of the app and then click on the Priority Pass button that’s on the homepage under “My Plan” as soon as the park opens. Once the first experience is booked guests can obtain a Priority Pass for another experience 120 minutes later or after the start time of their last Priority Pass, whichever is earlier. Guests can obtain a Priority Pass for the same attraction twice.

Once inside of the Priority Pass window, guests can show Cast Members their code for the attraction at the entrance of the ride. You’ll scan the code on the reader and that’s that! That sums up how to book an attraction, if you have questions about the process then let me know in the comments below.

There are currently 6 or 7 DisneySea attractions using Priority Pass, as Aquatopia comes and goes from the list. We’ll stick with 6 for this ranking but if Aquatopia is offered while you’re there then it would come in 5th place, above Magic Lamp and Turtle Talk.

As a whole, the offerings are not nearly as strong of a group as Tokyo Disneyland’s list of attractions but they are still worth using. Our ranking will go from worst to first, counting down to the best attraction to use Priority Pass on. This isn’t a ranking of the best attractions at the park as we’ve already done that! Instead this looks more into what Priority Pass attraction will lead to the least wasted time in line. Some of that does follow what attractions are best but it has more to do with wait times and what attraction runs out of Priority Pass first. Let’s get to it!

6. Magic Lamp Theater

This attraction in Arabian Coast is more of a show that has a high capacity. On days with high crowds there might be a wait for a show or two but more often than not this is easily accessible. The real question is if you should be spending any time on Magic Lamp Theater in a day at DisneySea. No matter if you want to experience it or not, this is probably the least useful Priority Pass of the 6.

5. Turtle Talk

Any of the next four could be mixed around, to be honest. This is the most kid attraction of the six and isn’t going to appeal to a number of guests so I put it fifth overall. But it also has the smallest capacity and can draw big lines. If this is a priority for you then move it up a spot or two but I think the other attractions are far more interesting.

4. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Of the 6 attractions that have Priority Pass, 20,000 Leagues is easily my second favorite. But this was as high on the rankings as I could put the undersea adventure. Even on busy days, there are times when this attraction doesn’t have much of a wait and the Priority Pass windows stay open late into the day. In other words, make sure you go on this but it doesn’t need to be via Priority Pass.

3. Raging Spirits

This coaster in Lost River Delta is just not a very good attraction. It’s a short ride that is surprisingly lacking in the thrill factor. But it looks really cool! That, plus it being a roller coaster, can draw crowds and that’s why it ranks in the top half of this list. I don’t necessarily recommend going on this attraction but if you do then I would definitely recommend doing it via Priority Pass to save time.

2. Nemo & Friends SeaRider

Another disappointing attraction ends up all the way in second place. This is a popular ride and generally runs out of Priority Passes either second or third on the list. SeaRider is a simulator that takes guests on a trip with some of their favorite Finding Nemo characters. It’s kind of cute but far from a great attraction so it’s best to do this via Priority Pass and save the wait time.

1. Indiana Jones Adventure

Of the many rankings I’ve done on this site, this pick might be my most obvious when it came to choosing a number one! This is similar to the Disneyland version of the ride but far from an exact copy. It’s one of DisneySea’s best and I’d say this is a must do. Grab a Priority Pass for this as soon as you get in the park.
