There was a slew of news today from the Oriental Land Company about Tokyo Disney Resort. Some of that news included hints at future expansion, which Tom at Disney Tourist Blog covered thoroughly and I won’t rehash here. What was also announced, and in the nearer future, was Tokyo DisneySea’s 25th anniversary plans! In this post, we’ll share the news about the anniversary, which will start in 2026, before adding our commentary. Let’s start with the press release from OLC.

Tokyo Disney Resort announced that to mark the 25th anniversary of Tokyo DisneySea Park, the Tokyo DisneySea 25th “Sparkling Jubilee” special event will be presented from April 15, 2026 through March 31, 2027 at Tokyo DisneySea.
Tokyo DisneySea opened on September 4, 2001, as the only Disney park themed to the sea. Over the years,
Tokyo DisneySea has captivated guests with its seven themed ports, including a romantic southern European
seaport town, a festive marina across the horizons of time, and a world inspired by the tales of a Thousand and
One Nights. In 2024, Tokyo DisneySea unveiled its eighth themed port Fantasy Springs — themed to
magical springs that lead to a world of Disney fantasy — bringing even more adventure and imagination to guests
in Japan and from across the world.
As part of its 25th anniversary celebration, Tokyo DisneySea will present a dazzling anniversary event, symbolizing that the park’s sparkling stories will continue to shine for years to come.
The theme of the anniversary event is “Sparkling Jubilee,” and will revolve around the signature color “Jubilee Blue,” inspired by the beauty of the seas at Tokyo DisneySea. Throughout the park, decorations and sparkling lights will transform the atmosphere, creating a festive year of celebration.
Sparkling Jubilee Celebration
At Mediterranean Harbor, guests can look forward to a harbor celebration where Disney friends, dressed in special 25th anniversary outfits, appear aboard a celebration barge specially decorated in “Jubilee Blue.” Guests are also invited to join in the celebration of this wonderous occasion.

In recent details, OLC has announced that more characters will be on shore ready to celebrate with guests as the barge passes by. The Sparkling Jubilee Celebration will last for roughly 20 minutes and is set to run 1 to 3 times per day. Does that mean it will run twice per day and something is lost in translation? I have no idea!
Dance the Globe!
On January 14th, ahead of the main anniversary event, a stage show themed to dance and music from around the world, will debut at Waterfront Park in American Waterfront. This will be inspired by the vibrant entertainment and diverse cultures unique to this location.

Dance the Globe is the name of the waterfront Park show. Mickey Mouse will be throwing a festival to dance to music from around the world. Dance the Globe will also feature Rapunzel, Hiro and Mirabel. The show will last roughly 25 minutes and will play 2-4 times per day.
Decor, Merchandise & Food
Guests can also enjoy the 25th anniversary celebration with special merchandise and menu items, as well as festive offerings at the Disney hotels and aboard the Disney Resort Line. Ports throughout the park will be adorned in different ‘Jubilee Blue’. The Aquasphere and Passagio MiraCosta will be adorned in a vibrant display of decorations.
At night, the walls of MiraCosta will illuminate with a special image projection in honor of the anniversary. There will also be a special theme song played.
Commentary
News of a 25th anniversary celebration at DisneySea is hardly a surprise. Theme parks tend to celebrate just about every milestone possible so something as big as 25 was always going to happen. We’re barely scratching the surface on details too but we do have a theme!
Before we talk about the theme, I just want to say that most of my commentary on anniversary themes or names is in jest. Much smarter (and more successful) people than me come up with these names and I’m sure they accomplish whatever goals (that are likely SEO related) the names set out for. So, when I poke fun at a phrase like ‘Celebrate Happy’, just as a totally random example, it’s just a joke that the phrase makes very little sense. I assume no responsibility if the jokes are also a little bit true.
With all of that said, ‘Sparkling Jubilee’ isn’t that bad relative to other names. It sounds like a very sugary dessert cocktail. You know who likes sugary dessert cocktails? Me and pretty much everyone! I can taste the cherry accented champagne now. The reason behind this name actually has some thought to it and I’m excited to see DisneySea add these jubilee blue decorations throughout the park.
The news for the 25th anniversary so far boils down to a harbor show in Mediterranean Harbor and character show in American Waterfront. Neither addition is much of a surprise, although I was intrigued by the American Waterfront option. Using that show to celebrate the different cultures DisneySea represents is a very Epcot(ian) move, in a good way.
With the anniversary still a ways away, I think more announcements will be in the works besides merch and menus. I had originally felt that a new nighttime show might be in the works. That seems less likely now that there’s been an update in August without any new information. Still, the news feels a little lighter than I would have expected.
Adding entertainment has been commonplace for Tokyo Disneyland’s anniversaries every five years, usually in the form of a new daytime parade. DisneySea’s version of that, since it can’t support a parade, could be a new nighttime show. Even if that doesn’t come to fruition, seeing the park for it’s 25th anniversary will be a treat. We’ll be sure to update you with new details if they’re announced.
