Walt Disney World’s Best Value – STK Lunch Review

STK is a table-service restaurant in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs. Located in The Landing section, the restaurant is a high end steakhouse with other locations across major US cities. At lunch, there are some incredible deals with one in particular that we were eager to try. In this post, we’ll review STK’s lunch offering as well as the restaurant’s atmosphere.

When STK opened in Disney Springs in 2016 the reviews were mixed. The menu was one of the most expensive in all of Disney World and the restaurant seemed out of place. STK was a big city restaurant unlike anything Disney Springs had. Between the ambiance and high price point, the restaurant seemed unapproachable for many.

I was in that group. The price was a non-starter and if I was going to pick a WDW steak I’d rather try an established place like Yachtsman Steakhouse. Honestly, I enjoy the big city restaurant vibe in other locations but that’s not the reason I go to Walt Disney World. When I’m there, I prefer themed design instead of modern. Because of that, going to STK wasn’t really much of a thought.

After those first few months, the restaurant smartly pivoted to attract a broader base. At least they did at lunch, offering a Wagyu Beef Burger and Fries for $9.99. All of these years later, they have kept that change and now end up having the best meal in terms of value in all of Walt Disney World. It’s quite a turn, from most expensive meal (dinner still fits that bill) to having the best value!

STK outdoor seating

Before we get to that burger, let’s take a peek at STK’s seating and atmosphere. Above is the outdoor seating, which is a wonderful option if the weather cooperates. The restaurant resides near the top of the The Landing. At worst, there will be some wonderful peoplewatching. More than that, sitting here will likely offer some water views to add to a relaxing meal. I like the inside pretty well but would probably pick eating outside if it’s not too hot.

STK seating with windows

STK has 3 levels but only the bottom was open for lunch. Inside that bottom level is modern and chic, which was also my high school persona. One of those things is not true. The matte black floor gives way to pops of pink both from the lighting and beautiful flowers around. The floor to ceiling windows on one side of the restaurant add natural light. It’s much nicer than a counter-service restaurant and doesn’t feel overly snotty. But there’s also not much personality to STK. The blips of lighting feel a little too Instagram-able to me but they’re definitely congruent with the style.

STK upper seating

This raised seating area next to where we sat was more upscale but not used. I don’t think they ever use this area for lunch but I thought I’d include a photo because it’s pretty and look at those flowers!

STK bar seating

The other seating option is at the bar, which is right next to where we were seated. It’s a full-service bar at lunch with tons of options. For solo diners without reservations, or even small groups of friends, this might be a good way to go. It’s an open design with sleek black bar tops, as you can see. Again, I like it fine but I wasn’t wowed by anything at STK from a design perspective.

But we weren’t at the restaurant to see its design, we were there for the cheapest burger on-site that’s not from McDonald’s. No shade at McDonald’s but mentioning them in the same sentence as STK feels wrong. For those interested, here’s a look at the STK menu! The other ‘value’ option at lunch that intrigued us was a 6 oz filet that came with a side salad or fries. That was for $19.99 and, seeing how the 10 oz filet is $74 on the same menu, that seemed like a good deal! This time around we both ended up with the burger though.

STK burger and fries

I’d only heard/read good things about the burger and it lived up to the hype! The Wagyu Burger consisted of a 7 oz beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, American cheese and special sauce. All of the toppings were served on the side. We’ve since returned to the restaurant and the burger now has a sesame bun that I prefer to the plain.

STK burger and fries (1 of 1)

There were a few add-ons for around $3 but the burger didn’t need it. It was melt in your mouth delicious, cooked to a perfect medium. The sauce was similar to a Thousand Island dressing and added just a little zest to heavy patty and melted cheese. This isn’t as high of praise as it sounds but no other burger I’ve had at WDW comes close to this. It’s not an all-timer for me but it’s really good and I’d happily pay more money for it. The patty is of much higher quality of meat than other burgers on property.

STK fries

I liked the fries pretty well. They didn’t blow me away but they were a big step up from the generic Disney fries both in quality and in seasoning. The whole dish made for a filling meal that I would, and will, happily go back for.

After having lunch here, I can’t recommend STK enough. This was cheaper than any counter-service meal we had all trip and that was for a sit down restaurant with much better ingredients. If you’re taking a rest day during your Disney World trip, I would put this down as a must do. Yes, most of that is just simply from a value perspective. You can’t beat this on Disney property and I still am shy when it comes to the dinner menu prices. But confining the reason to go to STK to just a value play is underselling the burger, and I would guess the filet, lunch special. This is just really good food in a relaxed atmosphere!

Overall Rating – 9.5/10
