Steakhouse 71 is a table-service restaurant in Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort. Located on the bottom floor of the A-frame hotel, the restaurant serves breakfast (which we’ve already reviewed), lunch and dinner. Unlike many WDW table-service spots, lunch and dinner have two different menus. Steakhouse 71 is one credit on the Disney Dining Plan (although it’s a bad value for lunch) and does offer an annual pass discount. In this post, we’ll review the restaurant’s atmosphere, value and cuisine. Yes, that includes the famous burger!
Since opening their doors for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021, Steakhouse 71 has been reviled for having one of the best burgers on property. I take such claims very seriously and am a little ashamed that it’s taken me until 2025 to address these claims. Burgers are one of the best parts of being alive and that’s coming from someone who enjoys life more days than not.
Disney World isn’t exactly known for having the best of the best when it comes to cheeseburgers. Counter-service locations in the park are various shades of average to bad. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll eat a bad burger and enjoy it. But ya know, I’d rather have a good one! We have tried a few enjoyable WDW burgers over the years, with our favorite being the phenomenal lunchtime deal at STK. Seeing if Steakhouse 71 lived up to the praise heaped on it wasn’t just a pleasant lunch with Melissa, it was a civic duty.
After having breakfast at the restaurant a few years back, our expectations were pretty high for lunch. The food was flavorful, hearty and good quality when we were there before. In the few years that had passed since dining at the restaurant most of decor had stayed the same. The 71 in the restaurant’s title is in honor of the year Disney World opened. When walking into Steakhouse 71, guests are met with a wall of photos showing off the early days of the Contemporary and Magic Kingdom.
There’s a comfortable waiting area and lounge in Steakhouse 71. There’s some art showcased in there along with refreshing take on 70’s design. As far as ‘places to watch a game’ in Disney World, this restaurant finishes pretty high thanks to an active and cozy bar with several TV’s.
That bar is separated from the actual restaurant by a glass wall. The dining room stays pretty quiet and feels more modern than the inspired waiting area. Wood tones and a rich blue move throughout the room. There’s also a cool chevron pattern repeated on several walls. Being a theme park fan, I’d love to see even more nods to the old days of Disney World but it is a fine balance in not trying to overdo it. As it is, Steakhouse 71 looks like a really nice restaurant. It’s ambiance isn’t anything extraordinary, but it’s a comfortable and nice spot to have a meal!
Moving onto the main event, here’s a link to the Steakhouse 71 lunch menu. Entrees for lunch are largely sandwich focused, with a few exceptions, and coming in under $30. If you’re looking to experience a few table-service restaurants while on a budget then breakfast or lunch here would be a great choice!
We started with the Steakhouse 71 Chopped Salad which was fantastic! Coming in at $11, this included Chopped Iceberg, Cucumbers, Grape Tomatoes, Carrots, Dried Cranberries, Goat Cheese, White Balsamic Vinaigrette and Brioche Croutons. There’s a chance that we were just vegetable deprived and that’s why we enjoyed the salad so much but this was fresh and a delicious dressing. Before gorging on a burger, this is a nice option.
I’ve held off long enough, here’s a look at the Stack Burger ($24). I shouldn’t have buried the lede this deep into the post but thanks for sticking with me. I’m happy to report that this truly is one of the best burgers on property. The ingredients include a Signature Blend of Beef, Pork Belly, American Cheese, Lemon Aïoli, Red Onion and House-made Pickles served on a Brioche Bun. The melted cheese on top of a flavorful patty is everything that is right with the world. The Lemon Aïoli added a zest to offset some of the freshness. I think I probably prefer the STK burger slightly (not to mention, the better value) but Melissa preferred this Stack Burger. What we both agree on is that this was fantastic.
For our other entree we ordered the Turkey Club which included Oven-roasted Turkey, Applewood-smoked Bacon, Lemon Aïoli, Lettuce, Tomato served on Brioche. The Aïoli was again a star and a nice pairing with the healthy amount of turkey on the sandwich. This is a large Turkey Club, making for a very filling lunch. We enjoyed the sandwich but it’s not incredibly special. I’ve had better clubs in my life. There’s a decent value to be had here though, as the sandwich and fries were $17.
Speaking of fries, we got them with both of our meals and liked them pretty well. They are waffle fries, cooked well with a good but not amazing seasoning. I’d happily eat more of them if they were set in front of me right now but they aren’t the thing I’d go back for. Thankfully, the burger and salad are things that I would go back for!
With a strong value and a few signature items, lunch at Steakhouse 71 was an excellent meal. The atmosphere is enjoyable, relaxed but dressed up enough, and the food is the star of the show. On top of that, the lunch prices offer one of the most affordable table-service meals in Disney World. With middling options in Magic Kingdom, popping over to the Contemporary for a lunch here is a nice change of pace and something we’d highly recommend!
