Tokyo Disney Resort Hotel Rankings

Tokyo Disney Resort isn’t just home to two of the best theme parks in the world but also has several incredible hotels to choose from. Whether it’s a luxury stay or simply a place to sleep for a few hours before you’re out the door again, there are options for everyone. In this post, we’ll rank the Tokyo Disney Resort hotels that we’ve stayed in and add some commentary about each of them!

So far, we’ve been able to stay at 9 different Tokyo Disney Resort hotels. Some of them are Disney hotels while others fall under the resort’s ‘Official Hotels’ moniker. Six of the seven are on the monorail loop, meaning distance is not an issue. Along with that, there’s a wide price range offered among these hotels.

While we’ve covered a decent amount of the Disney and Official hotels, there are plenty we haven’t got to. The biggest hole is the Fantasy Springs Hotel. There are also 2 official hotels we have yet to stay in – Grand Nikko and Tokyo Bay Maihama (we have stayed at their partner hotel next door). If you find a good deal on any of those spots, the location will be excellent. We’ve also stayed a little farther off-site but didn’t include those spots for now.

For my rankings, I factored in location, amenities, room, theme and value. As much as I might try, those aren’t all given equal weight. Amenities can take a backseat for us when visiting Tokyo Disney Resort, thanks to how much time we spend in the parks. I do appreciate a good theme while others might enjoy a nicer room. This is all subjective but I’ll add my reasoning below each hotel. If there’s a hotel you have a question about then let me know in the comments! TripAdvisor also has hotel rankings that are interesting to follow. Let’s get onto the list!

9. Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel

The one spot on this list that isn’t on the monorail loop is Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel, so it’s not much of a surprise that it comes in last place. In almost every way, this hotel is similar to a Walt Disney World value resort. Guests will take a bus to get to the parks which is easy and about a 15 minute ride. The rooms are pretty well themed and a decent size. The amenities are nice enough. There are just nicer hotels in the same price range so Celebration Hotel ends up in last place. I’ll admit, it’s been quite a while since we stayed here but, considering the other options, we haven’t felt the need to go back.

8. Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel First Resort

For all of the nautical fans that wish they were sleeping in a small room inside of a submarine or ship instead of a hotel, this should be your number one choice! The positives here are the location and cost. This will likely be the cheapest option on the list and it’s just a few minutes of walking away from the Bayside Monorail Station. The amenities are also pretty nice! The issue is that the rooms are tiny and I don’t think I’d want to stay more than a couple of days in them. But if you really love an oceanic theme then they’ve got you covered!

7. Hotel Okura

There’s a big jump from number 8 to number 7, as I like Hotel Okura much more than the previous 2 options. The room sizes here are very large and this hotel sits directly across from the Bayside Monorail Station. I didn’t love the amenities and there were parts of the hotel that felt out of date. But by and large, this is a good spot. Unfortunately, it is just as expensive as the other ‘Official’ hotels on the list that are ranked higher.

6. Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay

Another hotel across from the monorail station, Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay has all of the bells and whistles of a deluxe resort. There are plenty of restaurants to enjoy, some beautiful outside grounds to walk, views of Tokyo Bay and the theme parks as well as shopping and convenience stores. I wasn’t blown away by the rooms but they are more than serviceable, with more space than many Japanese hotel rooms. If you can find a good deal here then this will make for a very pleasant Tokyo Disney Resort experience.

5. Toy Story Hotel

I originally had this hotel behind the Sheraton but have moved it up, in large part thanks to the early entry 15 minutes at Tokyo Disneyland. This hotel is the newest on the list, opening in 2021 and residing right across from the monorail station. The theme is, you guessed it, Toy Story! Like a plussed Disney World value resort, the decor is a little over the top but it’s an enjoyable stay. Toy Story Hotel also features a nice list of amenities and comfortable rooms. There’s a large gap between this and the previous 3 on this list. If you’re a big Toy Story fan or have kids that love it, consider moving this up a couple of slots. The price is comparable to the next two hotels and cheaper than the top 3.

4. Disney Ambassador Hotel

We’ve moved into hotels that I love now. The Ambassador has a wonderful theme built around 1930’s era Hollywood. There’s some Mickey, or Disney, touches throughout along with a beautiful lobby and a strong list of amenities. The location is good but not great, sitting right next to Ikspiari. The same goes for the rooms, which are very nice but don’t quite reach the heights of the top 2 on the list. In terms of pricing, the Ambassador Hotel is slightly more than the Toy Story Hotel but it’s worth the upgrade unless you’re a family that really wants the Toy Story theme. The 15 minute early entry to Tokyo Disneyland the Ambassador Hotel gives is nearly enough to have me jump it to 3rd place.

3. Hilton Tokyo Bay

My favorite of the Official Hotels, Hilton Tokyo Bay has everything the Sheraton has but I enjoy the rooms more here. Blending western and Japanese hotel rooms isn’t an easy task but that’s exactly what I enjoyed about from Hilton Tokyo Bay. Along with that, the list of amenities is strong and the value here can be exceptional. This is a hotel that we will come back to many times when we aren’t looking to splurge.

2. Tokyo Disneyland Hotel

But speaking of splurges, Tokyo Disneyland Hotel is certainly worth that if you can make it work. Just steps away from the park it’s named after, this hotel looks brilliant in all of the Victorian splendor. There is some of the best service you’ll ever experience at the hotel, as well as beautiful rooms and great restaurants. I would put this hotel up against any at Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort. Depending on the exchange rate, you may be able to find this hotel for under $350 and if you do then it might be worth a splurge! We are looking forward to coming back and staying here, as it’s been a few years.

1. Hotel MiraCosta

The only reason Tokyo Disneyland Hotel isn’t number 1 is because it has to go up against this colossus. Hotel MiraCosta sits in the world’s best theme park, Tokyo DisneySea, and acts as part of the theme. The gorgeous outside of the hotel is enough for me to rank it number one but the inside is no slouch. There’s areas to peer into the theme park, some fantastic restaurants, the prettiest pool I’ve ever seen and fantastic rooms. Yes, it’s very expensive but there was never a debate in my mind about putting it anywhere other than number one!

    • You’re right! That’s the only one we haven’t stayed at yet and are planning to later this year. Reviews I’ve read don’t seem overly promising but I’m excited to try it out.
