Coffee is an integral part of the theme park experience. Whether it’s the cup you have after questioning what led you to booking a vacation where you wake up at 6:30 AM or the ill-advised caffeine boost you need at 10 PM to push you through those last few hours of rides, they are necessary. But they aren’t always as easy to find as you might like. Is waiting a half hour for that Main Street Starbucks really worth your time? Probably not, so know your options! In this post, we’ll share all of the places at Disneyland Resort where you can find that specialty coffee that you desperately need!
Before we get to deep into the brew, I should say that most counter-service restaurants will offer just your regular cup of joe. If you are a no-nonsense, “get that vanilla syrup, espresso shot and oat milk off my lawn!” type of person then this post is not necessary. I’m guessing if you’re that person then you probably aren’t looking this type of post up! Nearly every Disneyland Resort counter-service spot will have a cup of (likely watered-down) bare bones coffee.
This post is more for the people who have a coffee order nearly as long as a college application essay. I see you and I am here for you. Now, I am not one of you but I can relate to unnecessary run-on sentences. I have recently acquired a taste for a coffee and enjoy a latte. That said, drink tastes are so subjective that I never try to review them. Steering Wandering in Disney away from a Joffrey’s vs. Starbucks debate is a goal of this website (I’m not a big fan of either).
Listed below are all of the places to get a specialty coffee. They are listed in this order – Disneyland, California Adventure, Downtown Disney and then Resort Hotels. I’ve included a few sentences about each one. Those sentences aren’t necessarily reviews but just a quick description and a few thoughts I have on each place. Again, don’t let my coffee tastes make up your mind for you. Let’s get to the list!
Market House (DL)
This Main Street Starbucks is likely the busiest option on the list. Going here in the morning, shortly after the park opens, just isn’t advisable. There’s no mobile order here but guests can pay with a Starbucks app (you can’t redeem stars though). I might be down on the location in those regards but getting a hot coffee before the nighttime show on Main Street is a nice way to go.
Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe (DL)
Just down the (Main) street from Starbucks is Jolly Holiday, which offers some specialty coffee on the menu. The offerings aren’t going to blow anyone away but this is an easy spot to start in the morning and use mobile order at. We also like some of the treats and breakfast options that they offer!
Cappuccino Cart (DCA)
Over in California Adventure, we have Joffrey’s served at this cart that sits right on the edge of Pixar Pier, Paradise Gardens (which I’m told by a map is a land?) and San Fransokyo. Mobile order and a variety of drinks are offered here, as well as some festival items if the time of year is right. This spot is more convenient than good, in my opinion, but it does specialize in coffee unlike a few others coming up.
Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Coffee Shop (DCA)
Look, if you’re getting a mocha and want a sugar rush then it might as well be from Ghirardelli, right? They also serve a few lattes (caramel) and americanos. I’ve only ever had ice cream and milkshakes from here and I think going here just for coffee would be a little strange. But maybe I’ve just really missed the boat all of these years and it’s fantastic?
Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe (DCA)
This is the California Adventure Starbucks. Everything I said about the Main Street version applies here although this one is usually just slightly less busy. It also has a large indoor seating area, which you can’t really say about any other spot on this list.
Schmoozies (DCA)
The obvious spot to get coffee! Not because it’s good (I don’t know if it is, I’ve only ever got smoothies) but because it’s named Schmoozies. How the park got away with having two counter-service spots named Award Wieners and Schmoozies right next to each other is beyond me. But we should all reward that big-brained planning by going and getting a specialty coffee here, of which they have about five offerings.
Starbucks (Downtown Disney)
The only Starbucks in the resort where you can redeem stars and mobile order from. The outdoor seating here is fairly nice and I frequent it whenever someone I’m with wants to go into World of Disney. That place gives me anxiety and no amount of coffee (or lack thereof) changes it!
Parkside Market Coffee (Downtown Disney)
This new coffee shop at Parkside Market has the biggest menu of anywhere on the list, outside of Starbucks. We want to like it more than we do. To be fair, we haven’t tried the spot since the location changed names from Sip & Sonder to Parkside Market Coffee. Maybe it’s just me though, as I like the location and grabbing a drink here while enjoying the beautiful upstairs is a nice way to spend an afternoon. It’s an especially good place if you need to get some work done.
The Coffee House (Disneyland Hotel)
Taking up a small corner of the Disneyland Hotel, next to Goofy’s Kitchen, The Coffee House serves Joffrey’s and has a wide range of options as well as some pastries and breakfast items. There’s some nice outdoor seating here and the spot is open from 6 AM to 4 PM generally.
The Sketch Pad Cafe (Pixar Place Hotel)
A surprisingly enjoyable little spot in the Pixar Place Hotel, Sketch Pad Cafe has some great Pixar touches. The coffee seems to be largely made through automated machines but the beans are different. When we were there last they were using beans from Cafe Moto – a coffee shop out of San Diego. If you happen to be around this spot then this is a cute option to stop by.
