Raglan Road Review

Raglan Road is a table-service restaurant in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs. Residing in The Landing, Raglan Road serves Irish fare in a festive atmosphere. The restaurant has been a mainstay, and one of the most popular locations in Disney Springs, since opening there in 2005. Raglan Road does take part in the Disney Dining Plan as 1 table-service credit and does accept an annual pass discount (only for weekday lunch) and a Disney Visa discount. In this post, we’ll review Raglan Road’s food, atmosphere and value.

Disney Springs has made massive changes over the last decade. There are only a few vestiges to the place formerly known as Downtown Disney but Raglan Road has withstood all of the changes. Becoming a fan favorite for lively entertainment and quality pub food, the restaurant has always been on our radar but, for one reason or another, we hadn’t ventured there until recently.

Even with wholesale changes and a dramatic upgrade in dining, there are some Disney Springs restaurants that are more miss than hit with me. Maybe it’s the shopping center of it all but I think the area can be a little soulless. Keeping Raglan Road, that’s full of personality, is a no-brainer and makes this one of the most fun meals at Disney Springs.

Raglan Road dancer

The main room at Raglan Road is circular, with a high ceiling and large stage to showcase several different acts. I saw dancing (as you can see above) and a band play. There’s a variety of entertainment going on and it only adds to the great vibes that the restaurant has. On top of that, Raglan Road’s main room is really pretty. Between the chandeliers, windows on the second level and bar in the back, the space was surprisingly beautiful.

The circular seating and stage, plus the bar, make Raglan Road feel more communal. It’s not like guests are eating with each other but there’s more interaction than most restaurants. Tap dancing and jigs bring people together!

Raglan Road back room

There’s another room inside that’s off to the side and is far less exciting. Some tables might be able to see the stage. I guess the positive to this room is if you wanted a slightly quieter experience? Even then, I think it will be loud. The walls are filled with posters to go along with a classic pub (albeit larger than most) look.

Finally, there’s outside seating that includes a number of tables, a stage for live music and a bar. That area overlooks one of the Disney Springs busy walkways. There isn’t anything especially distinct about this seating but it’s a nice location especially once the music starts. While I mentioned the side room, this is the better option if you want to dine here but want a quieter experience.

From an atmosphere perspective, Raglan Road rocks! This is the most exciting option in Disney Springs because of the live entertainment and the beautiful main room. Now, that assessment changes significantly if you could care less about live entertainment. Maybe you hate the arts? Maybe you have no soul? Maybe an Irish girl or boy broke your heart and hearing their festive songs or seeing their energetic dancing reveals more and more cracks in your heart? If that’s the case, see a therapist and maybe avoid Raglan Road. Otherwise, I think this restaurant is one of the most fun spots in all of Walt Disney World.

Moving on to the food, here’s a look at the menu. Since this is an Irish Pub after all, I felt ordering the beer flight was in order.

Raglan Road beer flight

I believe this was the Four Provinces option on the menu which includes Guinness, Smithwicks, Harp, and Kilkenny. I don’t often review drinks on this site because I don’t have the most sophisticated palate when it comes to alcoholic beverages. That said, I thought this was a really fun way to try the different beers and at a decent cost relative to most Disney World spots. I was surprised that my favorite was the Guinness!

Raglan Road bread

Before the meal came out we were given the complimentary bread service. This brown bread had a touch of sweetness and had some texture from the nuts. It was good but not incredibly memorable.

Raglan Road Shepherd's Pie

Here’s the Shepherd’s Pie (to Try!) consisting of braised and pulled beef & lamb with root vegetables in a rich red wine jus with Irish peat smoked mashed potato. Obviously, this is one of the restaurant’s signature dishes but I wasn’t wowed by it. I thought the flavor verged on being overly salty. On the bright side, the meat was incredibly tender and was almost overwhelming with flavor. The mashed potatoes added a tiny bit of crunch along with the usual smooth texture. Overall, the dish was filling and good but not great. At $27.50, it’s a decent table-service value.

Raglan Road Seafood Chowder

The option we enjoyed more was the This Time It’s Chowder. Yes, Raglan Road might be trying a little too hard on these menu names. This is a creamy Irish seafood chowder with smoked haddock, salmon, cod and Atlantic shrimp with Guinness and treacle bread and Kerry gold butter. It was definitely creamy with just a tiny bite to it from the Guinness. Where the chowder really shined through was from all of the seafood packed in. I loved the different fish in there, all with a distinct flavor and texture. Melissa’s favorite part was the shrimp as they were plump and cooked perfectly. The bread on the side was a nice cherry on top. Well, not literally. This option was $30 but I’d happily get it again!

The food at Raglan Road was a step above most Irish Pub food. I’ll keep the Disney Springs comparisons going, Raglan Road is pretty unique in what it offers. Between Morimoto, The Boathouse and a few other spots, the restaurant carries its weight but I don’t know if it’s any better than other spots. I don’t mean that as an insult as Disney Springs has some really good food now. Raglan Road is a little cheaper than those places I mentioned though and that helps its case.

Raglan Road stage outdoor

Where Raglan Road excels is when you factor in the whole experience. The restaurant is lively and fun and the food is full of quality options! It’s easy to see how this has become a fan favorite and one people return to. As for me, I’m not sure it’ll be a favorite but it’s definitely in the upper echelon of Walt Disney World table-service restaurants.

Overall Rating – 8.5/10
