The time has come to continue my tradition of posting an offbeat, ridiculous piece of writing on the eve of the D23 Expo! Does anyone else know this is a tradition besides me? No. Will I do this again in 2028, Lord willing I’m healthy and still running this website? Absolutely. Will this be the last time I ask myself a question that I know the answer to in this post? Almost certainly not.

I’ve grown accustomed to writing ridiculous posts relating TV characters or movies to Disney attractions. After not having any room left on the shelf for another Pulitzer, it’s time to break free from that trope and enter into something I barely understand nor pretend to care about – the multiverse! What if rides weren’t just rides but instead portals into another world? What if we could step off of the attraction vehicle (do not do this in real life) and go visit that land for a few hours or days? Which attractions would be the best places to do that? See, I told you that the questions would keep going!

I’ve set off on a quest to figure this prompt out. Not literally, this is all fake. Again, please don’t attempt to get out of ride vehicles, we’ve already had way too much of that in 2026. I haven’t walked this fictional quest alone, my brother Matthew helped with the conceit of this post idea. Melissa and a couple of our friends were nice enough to indulge the question and come up with their own answers. I’m not ashamed to admit that I wanted some help on this very important topic.

Before we get into the best attractions to enter the world of, let’s set some parameters. Rules are more like guidelines and all that, but we definitely need some standards for this multiverse adventure. Am I even using multiverse correctly? It seems close enough. Here’s what we’re working with:

• Once you step off the ride and into whatever portal system that this post believes exists, you have roughly a full day in that world. We don’t need to worry about finding a place to sleep but we aren’t stopping in for a snack and leaving either. There’s time for adventure or danger or whatever the ride offers.
• For the sake of this post, let’s say that the attraction’s inhabitants aren’t alarmed by your arrival. You’re not necessarily immediate besties with Figment (just an example because the current version of that attraction is definitely not making this top ten list) but you’re living a day in the life with them. No need for awkward introductions in this multi dimensional universe, I have enough of those in the real world.
• Danger still exists. This isn’t a video game, there’s no extra lives and you can’t just respawn back into the real world once a giant disco yeti eats you. I want to visit a Haunted Mansion where seemingly no one gets out alive, but I also enjoy living so I won’t pick that.
• There’s a sense of exploration… within reason. The world of these rides has already been built for you. While exploring deeper into scenes and rooms is encouraged, we aren’t looking to create our own head canon in this exercise. On the flip side, I think staying in one room or spot for an entire day is breaking the spirit of this (brilliant?) post idea.
• All rides from Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disney Resorts were considered. I did not include the parks in Shanghai and Hong Kong because I haven’t been there. An in-person ride through was completely necessary to fit into this made up premise.

Those are enough guidelines. I thought about implementing a points system but I wanted you to get to the top ten list before falling asleep. For those of you that are still choosing to read this, remember that we’re all here to have a good time. If you haven’t picked up the vibe of this post, it’s mostly in jest. Leave what ride’s world you like to visit in the comments below. That said, all of my answers are 100% correct and above reproach since this is all very scientifically done.

I’ve gone back and forth on if this should be a ranked top ten list or not. Then I realized it was me so of course I need to rank these extremely hypothetical situations. I’ll start with number 10 and countdown to my number 1 answer. There’s a paragraph of explanation beneath each pick because justifying all of this was extremely important. Here we go, let’s step into another world!

10. Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage (DL)

My friend brought this one up to me and I had some questions at first but have fully come around on the idea. If I’m “entering the world” then I think I can get out of the submarine. I can snorkel, I could be a mermaid (merman), I could captain the submarine for a while. Heck, maybe I could be a sea turtle the whole time and just swim around! There’s no real threat of danger here, spend the day in the clear water and look at cool stuff. I like the submarines pretty well as a ride, my complaint is the same as everyone’s in that it feels claustrophobic. So this is one of the few rides where I’d rather experience the world without the ride vehicle. That alone makes it worthy of the number 10 spot.

9. Indiana Jones Adventure (DL)

Melissa brought this attraction up and before I even had a chance to question the dangerous aspect of it she said that she would like to, and I quote, “Find some artifacts, save the world, see Harrison Ford.” As a loving and understanding husband, I immediately thought about Harrison Ford (or Indiana Jones) rescuing me from imminent death. It was nice. Perchance to dream. This ranks in the bottom half of the top ten because of that imminent death but it does make the list because adventuring with one of the world’s most dashing and heroic movie stars sounds like a great day.

8. Flight of Passage, Navi River Journey & Kilimanjaro Safaris (Animal Kingdom)

This is a big tie and might be underlining one of the problems with this premise. All of these Animal Kingdom rides are experiential, where guests are already entering a world and experiencing it for themselves albeit for 3, 5 or 25 minutes. So stepping into Kilimanjaro Safaris just means I get to take a real, day long safari in Africa? Sign me up! Instead of a 5 minute ride on the back of a banshee or a 3 minute river cruise, they turn into all day excursions? Great, I’ll be there! I’m placing this in 8th because it circumnavigates some of the rules but I also would really like to do these things.

7. Big Thunder Mountain (DLP but really any of them)

We needed some mountain representation in this post but most of them felt threatening:

• Expedition Everest – Eaten by Disco Yeti
• Space Mountain – I don’t want to be an astronaut
• Splash Mountain – Thrown into Briar Patch
• Matterhorn – Eaten, or at least chased, by a different yeti

That leaves Big Thunder, which does hold some minor concerns. Clearly the spirits have been bothered and we’ve wronged them. I think I’ll start my day off by making peace with them and if they choose to take me, so be it. Ah, to sleep. Aside from the haunting concerns, there’s so much to explore and I might just be alone to hike around for a whole day! Assuming I avoid rattlesnakes and runaway trains, it should be some wonderful exploring.

6. Anna & Elsa’s Frozen Journey (TDS)

I really like to wear coats and hear people sing beautifully.

5. Radiator Springs Racers (DCA)

This pick begs the question of if you stepped out into this world would you instantly be a car? I think the answer is yes but I’m happy to debate further if there are dissenting opinions. I’d love to know what kind of car I am and I’m sure there’s an old, terrible Facebook quiz that would claim to have that answer but this option seems like more fun.

On top of that, there’s no real threat of danger unless you choose to spend the whole day tractor tipping with Mater. I’d probably enjoy racing for a while, going to see a waterfall and then having a nice meal at Flo’s. Being a car doesn’t sound bad at all!

4. Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage (TDS)

Let’s start with the bad: The adventuring part with Sinbad would be strenuous, I’m not sure I want to be on a boat that long. Could I get a plane or something and fly into every scene? I wouldn’t mind being locked away with that jolly ogre and would love to be carried on the back of a whale but getting to those spots is an issue. Why this actually makes the list though is how wonderful the town people are. They are so thankful for Sinbad’s return and you know the party is lasting for hours because there are like 5 straight celebratory scenes to end the ride! Sure, the adventure would be fun as Sinbad never seemed to be overly threatened but I’m mostly here for the afterparty.

3. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (MK or DL)

Finally, the lack of plot in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure pays off! The ride’s world has next to no threat of danger. What’s the worst that could happen, some old lady shrinks me down to the size of a small critter? No big deal, I’ll just start playing some jazz music! Eventually, we all get to go to a party and there’s a large alligator named Louis playing a trumpet while I feast on jambalaya. I might not want to come back to the real world after this day! Ay, there’s the rub.

2. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets

The lines get a little blurred with this pick because the Muppets do live in the real world and we all just treat them like people. So stepping into this ride’s universe just means that the Electric Mayhem is playing a concert in LA every night and I get to hang out in a recording studio with penguins and Scooter before going to their show? Pauses to wipe away daydreaming, joyful tears. That’ll do, pig. That’ll do.

1. Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast (TDL)

There’s a time in the animated Beauty and the Beast where visiting Beast’s Castle doesn’t appear to be any fun at all. Guess what, none of those moments appear in this attraction so I’d love to visit this world! The castle speaks for itself, it’s beautiful and quite musical. You’re going home with a song stuck in your head for sure and with a greater appreciation of European architecture. If the home’s owners are there to hang out then Belle would be a good conversationalist, she’s well read and all. Beast might be a little brooding at first but he’d open up. And if all else fails, you could talk to some household appliances about what they were like as a human, or vice versa depending on the timeline! Everyone wants to spend a day in a castle and I’m not sure there’d be a better one than this.
