Disney Magic 4-Night Bahamas Cruise Trip Report – Part 2

If you missed part 1 of this Trip Report, click here to catch up!

Our first port day on the Disney Magic was at Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Disney opened this port in 2024, becoming the 2nd private island (or portion of an island) that Disney operates in the Bahamas. The other is Castaway Cay. This was the day I was most looking forward to on the cruise and maybe on our whole trip, which included a 4 night stay in Belize after the cruise.

We woke up fairly early that next morning, grabbed a quick breakfast from the buffet and then it was time to head ashore. A little before 9, we walked off the boat and started the trek to the tram. Much has been made of the long walkway to get to transportation on Lookout Cay. That walkway is a long open-trestle pier built so that the cruise ships would stay off of the reef. It certainly offered a beautiful view!

The complaints mainly come from this being a longer walk, nearly half a mile, that takes 10 to 15 minutes. There’s no shade and the path does get a little crowded with golf carts coming and going. We were lucky enough to not have an overly hot day so I can’t say that walking the length of the pier bothered me at all. If anything, I thought it was pretty enjoyable! But I can see why people think otherwise if it was exceptionally hot or they were towing kids.

Once off the walkway, we stopped for pictures of the beach. You can see some of the cabanas above. Somewhat confusingly, this isn’t very close to where the main portion of Lookout Cay. Instead we boarded a tram and went another 5 or 10 minutes to the area. On the tram ride, it was clear that the area was still being developed. This wasn’t an especially picturesque ride.

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point Boardwalk Magic (1 of 1)

That was more than made up for when we did get to our destination. Lookout Cay offered one of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever seen! These boardwalks were built up above the beach so guests could walk from one end of the section to the other rather easily.

This wasn’t a theme park but I was still itching to try as many of the offerings as I could. Even island living can’t stop me from packing a full itinerary! That itinerary started with making headpieces at the Goombay Cultural Center. This is part of the Junkanoo Workshop but felt a little more arts & crafts focused than I would have preferred. That said, I’m sure there’s a pressure to keep kids entertained instead of just talking about the culture for half an hour.

Shortly after finishing up our decorative headpieces, RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration started. This features a band and dancers in full attire coming down the boardwalk before stopping to play a few songs on the backside of the Cultural Center. We enjoyed watching them play but do wish some of the organization of this mini parade was better. The viewing area is extremely limited and the actual performance was quite short. We’re still glad we experienced this but it felt like an area where the new port still needs to smooth out a few kinks.

Donald joined in on the fun! It seems like sand getting everywhere would be something that would annoy Donald but he didn’t seem to care on that day. He has a better outlook on beach days than Anakin Skywalker.

After taking a quick walk around the area, we met back with the full family group for lunch. To avoid large lines, we recommend eating early! I was pleasantly surprised by the buffet here, enjoying the fish more than anything. There was a decent variety to go along with your typical burgers and hot dogs.

Disney Magic Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Pointe Nature area (1 of 1)

With full stomachs, we set out along the nature trail. The actual trail was a bit of a mixed bag, not offering many views and being a little heavy on tall grass. Most of the walkway was either hard sand or boardwalk, so the walk was easy enough. While a nature trail would lead you to believe that it’s about the journey and not the destination, this one proved to be the opposite. We walked out of the trail and were met by one of my favorite views of the whole trip.

All of the beach at Lookout Cay is pristine but this is secluded and feels untouched. To the right of where the trail lets out are some rocks that are easy enough to climb around on (at your own risk). Here’s a few more photos of the area!

This was my favorite part of the whole cruise. There’s only so many superlatives to describe the scene. Suffice to say, we highly recommend doing the nature trail at Lookout Cay just for the end. Here’s a few more photos.

As you can see from that last photo, guests could just walk along the beach to get to this spot instead of taking the nature trail. I’d recommend going on the trail to get there and then have a leisurely beach walk on the way back.

After getting a little warm on our walk back, we decided to take a nice swim in the ocean. The water felt great! It was nice and warm while being incredibly clear. Back on that main beach there are lifeguards as well as an outlined area for people to swim and snorkel. This was a lovely way to cap off our activities on Lookout Cay. Sadly, I don’t have any photos of me swimming like an elegant dolphin through the Atlantic waters. I know that’s what everyone came here for.

By the time we were done swimming, it was around 2 PM with an aboard time at 4 PM. I was pretty shocked at how many people had already gone back to the boat at that point. After sitting on the beach for a few minutes I walked around and there couldn’t have been more than 50 people left enjoying the port.

In their defense, many of the offerings had closed down. But there was still a beautiful beach to enjoy! I walked around for 45 minutes or so, taking in everything else that Lookout Cay offered.

Disney Magic Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Pointe adult beach (1 of 1)

This lifeguard looked a little lonely in the adult section of the beach. You can see 2 people relaxing a little ways past the lifeguard tower but otherwise this spot was completely empty with still an hour and a half before needing to be back at the ship. I get that people don’t want to be late but I was a little confused by the urgency in getting back to the boat.

Maybe this is one of those cruise things I don’t really understand, with it being my first time. Or maybe people don’t want to spend all day at the beach! Either way it’s fine and made Lookout Cay way less crowded for those final hours. After exploring all of the grounds, it was a little past 3 so we headed back towards the tram. After browsing the shops quickly, we boarded and then made our way back onto the ship.

After going back to our room, we grabbed our clothes and went up to the spa. The Rainforest Room was a nice way to relax following a day in the sun. We sat in the hot stone chairs for a bit and used the locker rooms to shower.

Evening was setting in and we opted go for the nighttime show – Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story. In part 1, I talked about how I thought Tangled: The Musical was decent but didn’t blow me away. Twice Charmed was certainly a worse plot and script but I really loved the weirdness. Frankly, I thought the whole cruise experience could have used a little more weirdness. Some dude named Fairy Godfather Franco DiFortunato is the villain of the show and he was really into magic. My brother and I decided that we’d enjoy hanging out with Franco. Unfortunately, the opportunity never presented itself. I enjoyed the bizarre nature of Twice Charmed but am not sure I’d see it again.

Our time with Franco ended and before long it was time for dinner. That night we ate at Rapunzel’s Royal Table. Speaking of some added weirdness, an all-lady trio played covers of mostly 90’s rock and roll throughout the meal. I have no idea why they picked the songs that they picked but I was pretty into it! Rapunzel and a few other characters ran through the restaurant, making the whole atmosphere festive.

I liked the food pretty well that meal too, with the fish and the fry bread dessert (both pictured above) being my favorites. A long day out at the beach had made us all pretty tired by that point. My nephew Wyatt was fighting hard to stay awake at the table! That’s one of the downsides of the late dining timeslot I guess. Still, I thought Rapunzel’s Royal Table was fun and is begging to get copied in one of the domestic theme parks. Here’s a few more photos from the meal.

After walking around a little after dinner and taking in an Emperor’s New Groove themed gameshow that I somehow didn’t take photos of, we settled back into the room to go to sleep. We were met by this guy once inside!

The next day would be our other port stop in Nassau. We decided that we wouldn’t rush off the boat that morning, as there wasn’t anything pressing that people wanted to do. That’s where we’ll pick up in the next installment!
