Commentary

Epcot’s Candlelight Processional is a must-do for us, one of the highlights of the holiday season! Walt Disney World does Christmas exceptionally well and this show is a huge part of that. The production alone is worth seeing, with a large choir, huge orchestra and different celebrities. That it’s included in theme park admission (please don’t get any ideas, Disney) is a huge bonus to visiting during the holiday season.

Whether you’re religious or not, we think the tradition, production and spirit of the show are worth checking out. Think of this as the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, the holidays aren’t complete without it and you leave feeling warm and fuzzy. Hopefully that warmth isn’t because of a wild Floridian heatwave in December.

The list of narrators this year is pretty interesting. It’s strange not seeing Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Gad or Pat Sajak on the list. There’s other narrators who have become synonymous with the Candlelight Processional that are left off too. What we do have is a pretty fun list including Henry Winkler, Brendan Fraser and Brie Larson! Winkler should be a hoot and the other two are Oscar winners.

As for the Candlelight Processional Dining Packages, they cost a pretty penny but do take the headache out of trying to get a seat. Many of these end up being a really good value if you are on the Disney Dining Plan and we’d recommend going this route if you are. Chefs de France would be our top pick if on the plan but Teppan Edo offers the best value.

I’m also interested in the Regal Eagle Dining Package. First of all, Sam Eagle would be a great celebrity narrator for the Candlelight Processional but that’s neither here nor there. Being the lowest cost on the list and offering same day availability means that this will probably be a popular choice. If you’re going that route, I would plan to be at Regal Eagle as soon as they open.

One way or another, do not miss the Candlelight Processional at Epcot if visiting this holiday season. It’s exceptional entertainment that gets everyone into the Christmas spirit. I’m excited to take in a few shows while we’re there this December!
