I’ve been ranking attractions for years on this website and have recently turned my attention to water slides. I started a few months back by adding Disney World’s Blizzard Beach to the mix. Now it’s time to hop over to the resort’s other water park, Typhoon Lagoon. In this post, I’ll rank the water slides at Typhoon Lagoon.
Nothing makes me as giddy as water slides do. I don’t know if it’s nostalgia or just a pure love, but I get on a waterslide and I’ve hit bliss. Laughter doesn’t stop until I’m a few steps outside the pool, on my way back up to the next slide on the list. Honestly, it’s embarrassing that this post wasn’t written earlier considering my love! But I can’t control yesterday, I can only focus on what’s in front of me today. What’s in front of me is the very important task of ranking water slides.
There are a few caveats to this post. The first comes in the water park’s best attraction – Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool. I may love slides but there’s no doubt that this is the highlight here. This wave pool shoots out waves of up to 6 feet and it’s an absolute blast, if not a little chaotic. I thought about making this post a strict attraction rankings so I could have the surf pool in the top spot. Instead, I decided to stay consistent with my Blizzard Beach post and stick to slides. But the wave pool deserves a paragraph acknowledging how great it is.
There are a few other attractions at Typhoon Lagoon that aren’t included in the rankings. I’ve aged out of Ketchakiddie (amusingly, a real name of an attraction in 2025) and the Bay Slides. Not only am I over the height (and weight) limit, an adult going to a kid area in a water by themselves is just a bad idea. Don’t do it!
What you can do as a childless adult is Castaway Creek, the park’s lazy river. This is an excellent lazy river and worth your time! But it falls under the same category as the wave pool where it’s not a slide so I’m not ranking it. The internet may be a crazy place but if we can’t have rules in place to rank things at a water park then what have we become?
Before I plunge into the waterslide rankings, a shoutout to Typhoon Lagoon in general. For my money, this park is the purest themed park in Orlando. That’s not to say it’s the best. But everything sticks to the story of a typhoon coming through and arranging this park, including the iconic Miss Tilly Shrimp boat on top of the mountain, in how you see it. The park is self-aware, funny and full of great storytelling. I recommend soaking that in as much as possible. If you don’t at least say hi to Lagoona Gator then you’ve missed out.
There are 7 slides on this list. Crush n’ Gusher and the Storm Slides have several iterations and Humunga Kowabunga has a few replicas. To the slide rankings!
7. Gangplank Falls
I typically love a family raft ride but Typhoon Lagoon’s is a little too family oriented. The speed is a little closer to lazy river than an actual water slide. This might be a great starter slide for families with young kids but the rest of us need a little more thrill. On top of all of that, this family raft ride has guests carrying the large tube to the top of the slide. That’s not an enjoyable experience for anyone involved.
6. Keelhaul Falls
There are two single person tube slides on the left side of Typhoon Lagoon. Keelhaul Falls suffers from being compared to the neighboring Mayday Falls (more on that in a minute). Even with the unfavorable comparison, Keelhaul Falls is a good amount of fun! This is your standard tube slide that might spin guests around a little bit. The speed never quite hits a high but it’s still enjoyable.
5. Storm Slides
The Storm Slides consist of 3 different body slides that twist and turn through the rockwork at Typhoon Lagoon. They are more windy than fast but by the end riders are moving at a good speed. These are the only body slides at the park that aren’t drop or kiddie slides so bonus points there! Storm Slides are great but you know the saying… Someone always has to finish 5th.
4. Miss Adventure Falls
Typhoon Lagoon’s newest slide is the real family raft ride of the park. The slide fits up to 4 people in a large tube and has a lot of character to it. There’s even an animatronic to look at as guests are towed up the hill, a big improvement over having to walk up stairs or a ramp! Miss Adventure Falls has a relaxing and wonderful setup, not something most water parks offer. The slide is almost a letdown after all of that, still fun but nothing out of the ordinary. This is a large jump up from the bottom 3 slides though.
3. Mayday Falls
The biggest surprise of Typhoon Lagoon is Mayday Falls. It’s paired with Keelhaul, and next to Gangplank, Falls but is way more thrilling than either of those. I should mention that this list tends to favor the thrills. Mayday Falls is a longer innertube ride that goes surprisingly fast. There’s a part of the queue where you can watch riders go down the first straightaway. I got a kick out of everyone being surprised at how fast they were going. Mayday Falls is a boatload (tubeload?) of fun.
2. Humunga Kowabunga
The drop slide in Typhoon Lagoon doesn’t reach the literal heights of Blizzard Beach’s Summit Plummet but it’s still a thrill to drop 5 stories! Most of Humunga Kowabunga is an enclosed body slide. There’s not much to it, you drop! And this is a real love it or hate it situation, I just happen to love these type of slides.
1. Crush n’ Gusher
The competition for first place is not close, Crush n’ Gusher dominates the competition at Typhoon Lagoon. This water coaster has 3 different options (the middle is the best and the only one that solo riders can go on) for guests to zip down on. The backstory of this area being an abandoned fruit-processing plant is fun and makes the story work. The star of the show is the actual slide though, with powerful jets to shoot you up hills and sudden drops following that. Crush n’ Gusher is the best water slide in all of Walt Disney World.
