Work has been ongoing at Epcot’s Test Track for well over a year and now we’ve got an opening date for the thrill ride. While ‘Summer 2025’ had been the announced target, a date had not been given until now. In this post, we’ll share the dates and details, including previews for Annual Passholders and DVC Members. To the news!

Update (6/30): Disney has now announced Annual Passholder preview dates. Here are the details.
Passholder previews will take place July 13, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 19 and will use a virtual queue. Here’s how it works!
• First, make a park reservation for EPCOT to have an opportunity to join the 7 a.m. virtual queue for that day.
• Next, on the day of the preview, it’s time to request to join the virtual queue using the My Disney Experience app. There will be two opportunities to join each day of previews.
• The 7 a.m. virtual queue will be available to Passholders with a park reservation to EPCOT for that day.
• The 1 p.m. virtual queue will be available to any Passholder with valid admission. A park reservation to a theme park is not required.
• You do not need to have entered a theme park to join the virtual queue.
Important Information
• Passholders must have a Walt Disney World Annual Pass with valid admission on the preview date and may need a theme park reservation depending on the time of visit. Applicable pass block-out dates apply. Theme park reservations are limited and subject to availability, and reservation requirements are subject to change.
• As a reminder, if a Passholder has a reservation to another theme park, they must enter the theme park where they have a reservation prior to visiting EPCOT. Or, Passholders may visit EPCOT without a park reservation after 2:00 PM.
• Each Passholder can request to join a virtual queue no more than once per day.
• Joining the virtual queue does not guarantee the ability to participate in the preview. Boarding groups for a virtual queue are limited, subject to availability, and are not guaranteed. Not all boarding groups may be called to return, based on availability of the attraction. Learn more about virtual queues.
• Offering, dates, hours and virtual queue distribution times are subject to change or cancellation without notice or liability.
DVC previews have been announced for July 12th. Keep an eye on your email if you fit into that category.
Buckle up for a new spin on a fan-favorite attraction – Test Track presented by General Motors will reopen on July 22!
This attraction update will debut an all-new musical score, as well as new scenes that highlight technology making our cars smarter and our lives more fun.
See Through the “Eyes” of a Vehicle
One of those scenes showcases how vehicles can use advanced cameras and sensors to “see” the world they drive through. Walt Disney Imagineers were able to represent this tech utilizing over 29,000 points of light – and to explain a little more how guests will see through the “eyes” of a vehicle, meet Leigh and Cole.
While Test Track has always celebrated new and future automotive technology, it’s also a reminder of what a road trip is all about: spending quality time in the company of friends and family while embracing the beauty of the world around you.
The Road Ahead
The team is hard at work on the finishing touches, getting the attraction green light ready.
Just like you always check your mirrors when you get behind the wheel, keep an eye out for more information to share in the coming weeks about special previews for cast members, Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, Golden Oak residents and Club 33 Members alike to ride before the attraction officially reopens.
Commentary
As the calendar has shifted to the summer months, I was worried that the Test Track reopening had been delayed. There were rumors that the project had slipped past the opening window and some signage seemed to suggest a later date. Thankfully, that’s not the case! Having Test Track reopen just 2 days after Disney Starlight will give Walt Disney World a second wave of summer excitement.
With the previously mentioned rumors, I’m surprised to see that Test Track will offer previews. Announcing a date just over a month away doesn’t give them much time so I expect preview dates to come quickly via the Disney World website or emails, if you fit into one of the groups that gets to experience them.
I’m encouraged by the two Instagram reels that the Disney shared with this news. The lights give me a classic Test Track vibe and I’d love to seen an educational element reintroduced to the ride. I might be in the minority in this but learning how the car interacts with the surroundings sounds interesting!

The other video shared how the attraction will incorporate greenery into the space. This has me even more optimistic than the light video! Futuristic attractions like Test Track often get bogged down in looking, well, futuristic. That generally means that trees and plants are left out in favor of metal and lights. Yes, we might be a little lighter on greenery in the future (hopefully not) but adding it brings a nice aesthetic to the ride. I’m really curious to see what this will look like inside of the new Test Track.
Adding Test Track back to Epcot’s attraction roster will make touring more complicated but will make the park far more complete. Depending on how well this reimagining is executed, this should balance the rides out pretty well. Epcot is always in need of another fast moving ride and this will answer the bell.
The location is also right next to Guardians of the Galaxy – Cosmic Rewind. This area is already a madhouse in the morning but it’s going to get worse. I’m hoping that Epcot management devises a more enjoyable place to hold guests during Early Entry and that this will be well organized.
We’ll be updating our Epcot Itinerary once July 22nd approaches. On first blush, I would still recommend getting there very early for Cosmic Rewind and then saving Test Track for the night. But we’ll be monitoring the wait times over the summer to get a better read on the situation. For now, we’re just happy to have Test Track coming back to Epcot!
