Disneyland Resort 70th Anniversary Guide

Disneyland Resort’s 70th Anniversary is here! The celebration began on May 16th (2025) and continues through August 9th, 2026. There are several entertainment additions to go along with decorations, specialty food and more. In this post, we’ll share everything that is offered at Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.

In the name of precision, Disneyland’s actual 70th anniversary was on July 17th, 2025. Several of the park’s additions debuted on that date. The festivities began before that date in order to offer entertainment through the summer in both years.

Not all of the additions are actually new. Disney is bringing back a few crowd favorites to the parks. Along with that, they are bringing back most of the entertainment from last year’s Pixar Fest to the parks. Most everything remains through the end date of the anniversary although some of the options are date dependent.

Below is everything offered with a paragraph or two about each one. I’ll link to our reviews (if applicable, the nighttime shows have reviews while other offerings likely won’t) of each offering in those paragraphs, for those that want to read farther. I’m also going to include showtimes for some things but just know that those change regularly. If you’re in the park, it’s best to go by what the Disneyland App says for showtimes and don’t take my word for it. Without further ado, here’s everything that is offered at Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary!

Wondrous Journeys Fireworks Spectacular (DL)

Wondrous Journeys is returning to Disneyland to be the park’s 70th anniversary nighttime spectacular. Initially debuting in 2023 for the Disney 100 Celebration, this is one of our favorite firework shows that the resort has ever had. There’s a great blend of movies featured in the spectacular and the show’s theme and ideas really come together well.

Wondrous Journeys will be shown at 9:30 most nights and is 13 minutes long. We prefer viewing this from directly in front of the castle or farther back on Main Street. Viewing from in front of the castle will have you saving spots for a long time though. If the fireworks are canceled due to wind (or other events), the show runs as projection only. It also does that on select weeknights. Here’s our full review of the wonderful Wondrous Journeys!

Paint the Night Parade (DL) – Returning January 30th

After debuting a decade ago, Paint the Night has come and gone from Disneyland’s streets. Mostly, it’s been gone. The nighttime parade hasn’t been at Disneyland since 2017 and hasn’t made an appearance since 2018. It’s old enough to where I won’t link our review 😉 We do recommend seeing the parade though, it’s a good amount of fun!

Paint the Night features over a million LED lights on the floats and costumes. The soundtrack plays off of the classic Main Street Electrical Parade theme while featuring a few other songs. For the 70th anniversary, the parade will typically run at 8:45 and 10:45 with viewing from Main Street all the way down to it’s a small world. The 2nd showing will typically be less crowded.

World of Color Happiness (DCA)

World of Color Happiness is the latest edition of the classic California Adventure fountain show. Inspired by the iconic Walt Disney phrase, “To all who come to this happy place… welcome!” the show prominently features Joy from Inside Out. More importantly to me (but very few others), there is a Muppets pre-show right before World of Color kicks off.

Typically, World of Color Happiness shows twice each night at 9 and 10:15 PM. Like most things, the second showing will be less crowded. We recommend the splash zone area to view the show. You will likely get a little bit wet but it’s worth it for the front row view!

Walt Disney – A Magical Life

This brand new animatronic show opened in the Main Street Opera House, taking over the space that Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln held. Eventually, both shows will split time in the theater. Walt Disney – A Magical Life features an animatronic of the man himself and tell his story. Here’s a link to our review of the show.

The Celebrate Happy Character Cavalcade (DL)

This is the part of the post where I reveal that the 70th anniversary’s slogan is ‘Celebrate Happy’. I could have let you know earlier but I would have made fun of it and we’re going for positivity here! I’ve joked about it so much (in my head) that I’ve almost come around to the phrase making sense. Almost.

Anyway, there’s a character cavalcade that runs through Disneyland. Mickey, Minnie and a bunch of other characters will be there. Notably, Duffy and ShellieMay will be leading the cavalcade. This will run at 1:30 and 2:45 down the typical Disneyland parade route.

Tapestry of Happiness at it’s a small world (DL)

The iconic façade of “it’s a small world” will transform into a vibrant, animated mosaic inspired by the work of legendary Disney artist Mary Blair. This visual love letter to 70 years of unforgettable Disneyland experiences celebrates beloved attractions, cherished moments and the timeless spirit of the Happiest Place on Earth. Tapestry of Happiness shows nightly, typically at 9:50 PM, 10:20 PM, 11:30 PM and 11:45 PM.

Celebrate Happy at Carthay Circle Theater

The iconic Carthay Circle Restaurant facade will shimmer with 70th anniversary magic! As evening falls, its exterior will host a special presentation. Expect a fusion of music (including the “Celebrate Happy” anthem), lighting, and projections transforming the building. This experience illuminates both the restaurant and the surrounding Buena Vista Street area in a captivating glow, using shimmering lights, moving projections, and vivid color.

Additions to Small World, Storybook Land Canal Boats & Toy Story Mania

Two popular attractions at Disneyland Resort will receive enhancements during the 70th anniversary. At Small World, Miguel and Dante from Coco will join the fun and sing along with the classic tune. Over at Toy Story Midway Mania, there will be nods to the 70th anniversary throughout the gameplay. Finally, Rapunzel’s Tower has made an appearance in Disneyland’s Storybook Land Canal Boats.

70th Anniversary Specialty Food & Merch

Like all good celebrations, this one comes with food. Here’s our post detailing every specialty menu item that is offered. We’ll try to review these options as the anniversary goes. Along with the food, there is also merch. This isn’t hard to find but you can find the biggest selection at World of Disney (Downtown Disney), Disneyland’s Emporium or Elias & Company in California Adventure.

Decorations

We’ve shown off a few of the decorations Disneyland Resort has for the ‘Celebrate Happy’ event in this post. There’s more below! You can find all of these throughout the parks. The decor is most prominently feature on Main Street and the castle in Disneyland and in California Adventure’s Buena Vista Street and Carthay Circle. In the esplanade between the two parks is a large structure made for the 70th anniversary.

I’m a little mixed on the decor, as the color palette isn’t my favorite. But the decorations do add to the festive setting without being overly intrusive. Overall, the parks are looking good with both the decor and all of the entertainment offered during the festival.

Disney has also added a few interactive 70th anniversary stations where guests can touch a Magic Band to a reader and then a complimentary souvenir ticket will come out or a short song and display will show. There is said to be one of each of these in Disneyland’s 5 original lands – Main Street, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Frontierland and Adventureland. We haven’t seen the station in Tomorrowland yet but have found the rest. The tickets are really cool, with a nice nod to some classic attractions. I like the Fantasyland displays, as well. This is a great little addition to the anniversary.

Should you visit for the 70th anniversary?

If you’re considering whether to visit during the 70th anniversary or not, we recommend seeing the resort during this time. I don’t think the crowds will be over the top through the 2026 summer outside of a few days here and there. It’s not often that Disneyland Resort offers this much quality entertainment.

Now that we’re through the holidays almost all of the other offerings will stick around as well as the decorations. I also don’t really see a benefit to waiting out the anniversary either, as there aren’t new attractions coming anytime soon and the crowd forecast is manageable over the 2025 summer and beyond. Now is a great time to visit Disneyland Resort!
