Disneyland Paris Hotels – Moxy Paris Val d’Europe Review

Hotel Moxy Val d’Europe is a nearby hotel to Disneyland Paris, offering a budget-friendly alternative to the resort’s on-site hotels. Sitting just a train stop away from the parks, Hotel Moxy is owned and operated by the Marriott brand. Approximately a 40 minute train ride outside of Paris and just 3 minutes from the Disney Resort, Val d’Europe is home to several different hotels as well as a large mall. In this post, we’ll review the rooms, location and amenities offered by Hotel Moxy Paris Val d’Europe.

We weren’t sure what to expect when booking Hotel Moxy at Val d’Europe. I had wanted to stay at a different Disneyland Paris resort but they don’t make it easy for guests to book a simple hotel stay rather than a package with tickets. We already had our tickets so that led me to looking at hotels in the Val d’Europe area. It was a fairly expensive night to stay in the area and that led me to Moxy Paris, a more affordable option. Through that chain of events, you might understand my apprehension.

I’d also never heard of the Hotel Moxy brand before. We had quite a surprise at check-in when they asked if we had a Marriott Bonvoy number. For those in the dark like I was, this brand was launched by Marriott in 2014 as an affordable option leaning toward a younger crowd. The hotels usually feature slightly smaller rooms, with stylish common spaces. There are around 150 (and growing) Hotel Moxys (Moxies?) worldwide, with the majority of them being in Europe.

That brief history lesson did depict the hotel pretty well. For being run by a big brand name, Hotel Moxy is definitely shooting for something more modern and chic. It reminds me a bit of the Hotel Indigo brand, owned by IHG. While these hotels might be trying a little too hard to be cool, we were pleasantly surprised at how nice everything offered at this particular location was.

Speaking of that location, that was another pleasant surprise when it came to this spot. Hotel Moxy is just a couple of minutes (around the block) walking from the Val d’Europe Station. If you’re coming from Paris toward Disneyland Paris, then exit at the back of the train and the hotel will be right there. The walk to and from the hotel couldn’t have been much easier.

Getting to the parks is a breeze too. Google Maps might say 12 minutes to get there up above, but the actual train ride from Val d’Europe to DLP is 2 or 3 minutes. Getting from Hotel Moxy to the front gates of either park in 15 minutes is very attainable, assuming security isn’t backed up. Frankly, I was kind of amazed by how easy the process was. For those that won’t get enough steps in at the park, walking from the hotel is about 1.5 miles and takes roughly half an hour. I came in thinking that the hotel’s location would work well enough for a night before we were on property. I left thinking that staying there for the entirety of a Disneyland Paris stay would be really easy.

Moving onto the rooms, we stayed in the 1 Queen option that is 183 square feet. That is definitely on the smaller side of hotel rooms, at least compared to most standard American options. Fortunately, they used the space well!

Hotel Moxy bed (1 of 1)

The smaller room is most apparent in this photo, as there just isn’t a lot of space to walk around the bed. To get around that, there’s a little corner seat that doubles as a bedside table. I was surprised how comfortable that seat was but don’t know how practical it actually is. The bed was comfortable and the simplistic, modern aesthetic worked for me.

Hotel Moxy storage (1 of 1)

Countering the smaller room was a number of items to help store bags. They had hangers, tables, suitcase holders and other knickknacks that were either design choices I didn’t understand or ways to store luggage that I didn’t understand. Either way, I appreciated the attempts at more storage space. For being a smaller room, the design kept the bags out of a walking path.

The bathroom didn’t feel overly cramped. I liked the walk-in shower quite a bit and the sink area was spacious enough. If I was going to pick nits, I’d always prefer the sink be outside the shower room in a hotel. But that’s a minor complaint for a well designed space.

We liked the design of the entire room. If we had been there more than a couple of nights, the smaller footprint might have become a little more tedious but that wasn’t an issue at all while we were there. There are larger rooms (247 sq feet) for those interested but we were happy with this iteration.

While the rooms were modern, the common spaces were the most memorable aspect of Hotel Moxy. I don’t know if the cool kids are still using the word ‘hip’ to describe things but these spaces were hip! There were murals everywhere and the whole floor plan was very open. The check-in desk doubles as a bar and a complimentary drink was included in our stay. I don’t know who the genius was to combine a check-in desk and a bar but bravo to them. That room had a nice energy to it.

Murals filled the walls of other rooms, including the one seen above that had ample seating. Some of this could be used for breakfast or if the hotel was really busy. When we were there, it was pretty quiet. But most of the European hotels we’ve been in had cool hang out spaces.

There were a few quieter spots that could be used for meetings, work spaces or just relaxing. In my mind, this could make up for the smaller rooms as there’s plenty of space to relax downstairs in the lobby. One of these spots acted as the business center, although it may have looked a little too chic to call it that.

If anything, these rooms might all be trying a little hard. But we came away impressed and liking the style more than a typical hotel. That makes sense because I feel like the Hotel Moxy brand is aimed at our age range. On top of these open rooms, there was also a fitness center, a pool table and a restaurant in the hotel. If you want to venture out without taking the train, a large mall is nearby, plenty of restaurants are around and there’s an aquarium within walking distance.

I haven’t brought up the price much, even though that may be the best aspect of the hotel. For being so close to Disneyland Paris and being a clean, chic hotel we thought the value was fantastic. Our stay was during a busy time of year and we found the hotel for under $150/night. After searching through random dates over the next few months, $150/night appears to be the peak pricing. I’ve seen as low as $110/night. For those prices, Hotel Moxy is an excellent budget hotel to stay in during a Disneyland Paris trip.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay at Hotel Moxy. I’d recommend it to anybody who is traveling solo or as a couple. The rooms are on the smaller side but are quite nice, the amenities are trendy and the location is surprisingly effective for a few days at the parks. While staying on-site at Disneyland Paris has some good perks, this hotel is a great option for budget travel.
