Pizzeria Bella Notte Review

Pizzeria Bella Notte is a counter-service restaurant in Disneyland Paris. Located in Fantasyland, the restaurant is themed to Lady and the Tramp with murals, statues and a beautiful building to reside in. They also serve pizza and pasta to fit in with the theme so, before you ask, you can Lady and the Tramp it with your significant other (or some stranger, I’m not here to judge) if you order the spaghetti. In this post, we’ll review Pizzeria Bella Notte, including our thoughts on the restaurant’s atmosphere, cuisine and value.

I won’t beat around the bush, counter-service restaurants at Disneyland Paris are one of the weakest parts of the park. While Melissa and I enjoyed several table-service meals we had, the quick options always left something to be desired. The food quality is low and there’s a maddening lack of capacity. That’s before even bringing up inconsistent hours at the restaurants, a problem that has been addressed but not fully eradicated.

We ended up at Pizzeria Bella Notte due to a myriad of these reasons. The Mr. Toad restaurant at Disneyland Paris was out of seating according to a Cast Member (although it didn’t look it to our eyes, just one of those confusing things we don’t know the full details about) so we lumbered around Fantasyland, looking for another place to try. Eventually we ended up at Pizzeria Bella Notte, thanks to the beautiful facade the restaurant has.

I was a little shocked at how pretty most of DLP’s counter-service restaurants were, at least on the outside. There’s probably a bigger argument to be made here that the park is more style over substance. We’ll save that for another day though because most of you probably found this post by Googling for a restaurant review and not because you want a 2,000 word thesis on the biggest problem Disneyland Paris has. Anyway, the outside is lovely – looking somewhere between a Tuscan winery and a castle.

Inside of the restaurant is also very pretty, taking motifs from Lady and the Tramp and placing them in a few distinct rooms that are full of pastels, wood or bricks. My favorite seating area was a brick section that looked like a wine cellar in an elegant castle or mansion. All of the rooms are nice though. If there’s one nit to pick on the atmosphere it’s that the seating is tight but that’s par for the course in France.

My favorite piece of decor is photographed above, with a pastel wall accented by wood, brick and plants. This is next to the ordering bay and gives the room a good texture. The balcony is beautiful, adding a great statement piece to a wonderfully themed restaurant.

Since I started this post talking about how poor the counter-service scene is at Disneyland Paris, you probably know where the rest of this is going. But before we get to the food, the atmosphere is great. I was pleasantly surprised by it and enjoyed most of the counter-service designs that we walked into.

Sadly, the food doesn’t measure up to the design. The atmosphere came with a yard stick and the food came with a 6-inch ruler. I should probably convert that sentence to the metric system considering the location. Pizzeria Bella Notte serves pizza and pasta. We maybe should have gone with the pizza but Melissa and I both ordered pasta instead. Here’s a look at the menu. As with most of the meals in Disneyland Paris (and France) the most common way to order is in sets with an entree, drink and side. These pasta sets came with either garlic bread or a side salad and we tried both.

The garlic bread was hard to the point where it was tough to chew. Flavors were good because garlic bread is almost always delicious but this had clearly been sitting out for too long. Considering all of the great bread we’d already eaten in Paris, this was a real come down.

The side salad was pre-packaged but decent enough. This seemed fresh (as much as a pre-packaged option can) and we both liked the vinaigrette pretty well. Against all odds, the salad beat out the garlic bread in this instance. Maybe the first time in history that’s ever happened.

Pizzeria Bella Notte Rigatoni DLP (1 of 1)

This is the Rigatoni Pasta with Neapolitan Sauce. Out of the two pasta dishes we tried, this was the better option. That’s not exactly a compliment but it was okay. The tomato-based sauce wasn’t as thick as I’d like but the pasta was alright. After a while, the flavors got very one-note resulting in a slightly below average counter-service pasta dish. At 16 Euros for the whole set (including a soda), the meal was pretty filling.

Pizzeria Bella Notte Pesto DLP (1 of 1)

The biggest bummer of the meal was a Portorosso Pesto Pasta. I generally love pesto anything but this sauce was just not very good. The biggest offender on the dish was the noodles though, as they were overcooked. Eating this was really just an unpleasant experience. I will say that the Spaghetti and Meatballs options looked better but can’t speak to if that was reality. This was 18 Euros and it was bad.

All in all, the prices and atmosphere at Pizzeria Bella Notte were different shades of good. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised by both of them. Unfortunately, the food was bad enough to offset any of those positives. In terms of all Disneyland Paris counter-service spots, this was one of the better places we tried. Unfortunately, that just means everything else was really bad compared to Pizzeria Bella Notte, which was just mostly bad. Moral of the story? Go to table-service restaurants when visiting Disneyland Paris.

Overall Rating – 6.5/10
