Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is Disneyland’s newest attraction, replacing the iconic Splash Mountain. The ride opened on November 15th, 2024 and is utilizing a virtual queue system. There will be no standby line for the time being. In this post, we detail how guests can ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland.
Just like every other attraction that has opened with a virtual queue over the last few years, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure does give you a couple of options in how to ride. One of those is just bypassing the virtual queue system altogether and purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Unlike other attractions that have used this system, TBA will debut in the Multi Pass setting and not as an Individual Lightning Lane. This actually makes Multi Pass a pretty good value! If you’re willing to go this route then Tiana’s Bayou Adventure should be the first Lightning Lane you book with that pass. I expect it to sell out time slots very quickly, at least in the first few months of operation.
When it’s come to virtual queues, I’ve completely written off Lightning Lane as an option in the past. As I mentioned, with Tiana’s being in Multi Pass that changes the equation. Multi Pass at Disneyland is already an intriguing Disneyland add-on and this only furthers that. If you have fast thumbs, this option may have you selecting a Lightning Lane for Tiana’s in the middle of the day when it’s hot instead of at 10 PM when the weather has dropped below 60 and that wall of water splashing over your head isn’t nearly as much fun.
Let’s say Multi Pass isn’t for you though! Fair enough, Disneyland costs enough money as is. Your option is trying to find a spot in the virtual queue. There are 3 daily opportunities to request to join the virtual queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure:
7:00 AM – Guests must have a park reservation for Disneyland Park with a one-park ticket or a park reservation for Disneyland Park with a Park Hopper ticket.
12:00 PM (Noon) – Guests inside Disney California Adventure Park with a Park Hopper ticket or inside Disneyland Park can request to join the virtual queue.
4:00 PM – Guests inside Disney California Adventure Park with a Park Hopper ticket or inside Disneyland Park can request to join the virtual queue.
If you don’t get in during the 7 AM virtual queue then you can try again at noon, and same goes at 4 PM. But guests are only able to ride once per day at this point so there’s no point in trying again if you’ve already ridden Tiana’s Bayou Adventure that day. Another point of clarification is that guests need to be inside of a park at the noon or 4 PM windows. A park reservation without being inside of the parks will not suffice for those later times.
You can access the virtual queue entry inside of the Disneyland app. Make sure all of your group’s tickets are connected to each other. Once you’ve done that, follow these steps:
- Step 1 – Check Availability: Log in to the Disneyland app just before one of the distribution times. Select “Virtual Queues” on the home screen to view the current status and next steps for joining a virtual queue. The app will indicate when there is no availability for a specific distribution time, or if a backup group is available. We recommend signing into the app a couple of minutes ahead of time and keep refreshing (pull down) the page until the time arrives.
- Step 2 – Enroll Your Group: As long as your Disney account is linked to your group’s park tickets, and everyone has valid admission and park reservations for the park you will visit, you can enroll everyone in the virtual queue at the same time (subject to availability).
- Step 3 – Enjoy the Experience: If your boarding group is called to return, you’ll receive a notification via the Disneyland app. You can track what group they’re on from the virtual queue tab in the app. Then, head over to the entrance of the experience within your designated return window. You will have an hour to get there once your group is called. When you arrive, you will show Cast Members the entry pass and walk on in!
I should also mention that you can’t hold a virtual queue for multiple attractions at the same time. That shouldn’t be an issue at Disneyland currently.
This all sounds a little complicated and intimidating. To be fair, it probably is. We sometimes miss the days where you just showed up to the park and waited in line! But if you’re able to leverage the virtual queue, it can work to your benefit. It’s almost like a free FastPass (remember when they all used to be free?) if you work it right. If you’re nervous about the whole process then wake up to make a practice run in the days leading up to your visit. That might be overkill, but I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the app at the very least.
In terms of finding a spot in the virtual queue, 7 AM will be the hardest slot to get followed by noon and then 4 PM. On certain nights, I actually think 4 PM won’t be nearly as competitive to get a virtual queue spot. The Disneyland crowd leans far more local than Walt Disney World, and if the night is cold then locals just aren’t going to want to get drenched! Pack some warm clothes (maybe even a change of clothes), a poncho and give it your best shot if that’s the case. If you’re planning to be in Disneyland for a full day, I’d just try at every time slot to get a spot in the virtual queue. You’ll crack the code eventually!
As for whether Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is worth all of this hassle, it definitely is. In no way is this attraction our favorite in Disneyland, in fact we think it has some massive flaws. But the ride is a good amount of fun, as is experiencing new things! Even with TBA’s problems, it is well worth doing and will be a mainstay in Disneyland for years to come. While finding a spot in line might seem like a lot of work, we promise it will only take a few moments out of your day and will end up getting a fun ride out of it!
