Palm Breeze Bar Review

Palm Breeze Bar is a table-service restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel. Sitting poolside, the bar and restaurant opened, along with the DVC tower, in 2023. Palm Breeze Bar serves American food, specializing in salads and sandwiches, and does offer a Magic Key and DVC discount. In this post, we’ll review the restaurant’s food, atmosphere and value.

The Disneyland Hotel expansion gave loyal fans many reasons to be excited. There are more DVC rooms at the resort for those that have points to spend! Another pool option for those staying at the Disneyland Hotel is always a plus. But the perk that is easiest to experience, hotel reservation or not, is the new Palm Breeze Bar restaurant that’s located right under the Discovery Tower.

Before the table-service location ever opened, there was reason to believe it would be good. Both the Grand Californian and Disneyland Hotel are home to some of the best restaurants at Disneyland Resort. In fact, just a few steps away from Palm Breeze Bar resides the beloved Trader Sam’s and exceptional Tangaroa Terrace. Over at the Grand Californian, the GCH, Hearthstone Lounge and Napa Rose make up a fantastic group of dining options. There was no reason to believe that Palm Breeze Bar wouldn’t join those ranks.

Like the other hotel restaurants I mentioned (Trader Sam’s notwithstanding), Palm Breeze has a less in your face theme than what you might find inside of the parks. The atmosphere is far more relaxed and is all outdoor. As should be expected by the name, the restaurant has a Palm Springs flair to it. There’s some 60’s era bright colors and floral décor. We were told that Walt Disney liked to vacation in Palm Springs which led to the inspiration behind the design.

For being a relatively small space, the seating area felt open. The bright colors offset the gray pavement and there’s some lovely succulents planted nearby, extending the desert feel. On the other side of the restaurant sits the new pool, although we didn’t hear much noise come through from there. This is a prime people watching spot!

Palm Breeze Bar long table

If you come to Palm Breeze Bar with a larger group then you’ll likely be seated at one of these longer tables. Everywhere else seemed to sit 4 or 5. These tabletops do give off a more casual vibe, which the whole restaurant oozes.

Palm Breeze Bar table and chairs

There’s a closer look at one of the standard table and chair settings. It’s a very comfortable place, whether there for a meal or for drinks. The restaurant doesn’t keep very late hours (generally 9 PM) or else I could see this becoming a late night summer favorite for many.

Along with the tables, there’s actual bar seating. Outside of Downtown Disney, this becomes the top location to sit and watch a game if you need to do so. The chairs look comfortable and there were plenty of bartenders working, at least while we were there.

A word of warning: The restaurant does have a slight wind tunnel effect. It’s all in the shade, which will be greatly appreciated come summer but can also make it feel colder than it actually is. There are heat lamps but you may want some long sleeves.

Palm Breeze Bar table set

As a whole, I really enjoyed Palm Breeze Bar’s setting. Even though it has bar in the name, all ages are welcome. I think this is one of the most relaxing spots on property to sit and have a meal. That the seating is quite comfortable makes dining here even better! While maybe not a poolside Palm Springs vacation, this can give just a taste of that before returning you to roller coasters!

Moving onto the food, here’s a look at the menu. Like the atmosphere, the menu is casual with a Californian touch. The entrees stick to salads, sandwiches and pizzas but there’s also an extensive drink, appetizer and dessert menu. Prices range on those entrees but they largely stay in the $20-$30 range. The pizzas have the same listings as a few of the Grand Californian restaurants so we went with other options. I’m not sure if they’re exactly the same though!

Palm Breeze Bar Crab Roll

This is the Jumbo Lump Crab Roll consisting of Tarragon & Lemon Aïoli, Fresh Dill, and Brioche. I’m a sucker for anything crab related and this was no exception. There were large pieces of crab in the sandwich, without much filler. The Aïoli gave the sandwich just enough zest to counter the richness of the crab meat. This is definitely in the running for the best sandwich at Disneyland Resort, with the buttered Brioche being the perfect bread choice. Unfortunately, this is also in the running for the most expensive sandwich at $29! While that’s a little steep, I can tell why with all of the crab put in there. I wouldn’t call it a good value but the quality won me over, to the point where I’d happily get it anytime we were at Palm Breeze Bar. I want one right now, actually!

Palm Breeze Bar burger

Not to be outdone, this is the Palm Breeze Burger. The toppings include Sun-dried Tomato & Basil Pesto, Burrata and Arugula. I mentioned that the menu has a California flavor to it and the burger definitely embraces that. There’s even a hint of Italian mixed in with the Burrata and Tomato. The patty was thicker than most Disneyland burgers and was cooked perfectly, juicy with just enough seasoning. Not that it’s actually a healthy option but the burger is relatively light, which is a nice change. I don’t think this is my favorite burger on property but it’s easily top five and one that we will return to. At $26, the price is a little steep but not much more than some of the high end counter-service burgers.

Both sandwiches came with fries, chips or fresh fruit. Being the healthy creatures that we are, Melissa and I opted for chips and fries. The fries won out, as they are thicker than the usual Disneyland fries and had a great seasoning on them. The chips were good too but tasted like pretty generic house made potato chips.

Palm Breeze Bar beignets

We made it to dessert and I’m shocked that these haven’t taken the Disney online community by storm. This may be blasphemous but the Beignets at Palm Breeze Bar are the best Beignets at Disneyland. Yeah, I said it! I’m not sure Melissa totally agrees with me but she thought they were fantastic and we’ve already been back a second time to have them on her request so…

The beignets are filled either with chocolate or mixed berry. The dipping sauces are those two and passionfruit. I liked the chocolate and passionfruit sauces the best but all three were good. The beignets themselves are served warm and the slightest bit doughy to really make them melt in your mouth. There’s a less oily taste to these than others which has helped them become my favorite dessert currently at Disneyland. They are $15 and a perfect thing to get if you go to Palm Breeze Bar for dessert and drinks!

Palm Breeze Bar left side seating

Palm Breeze Bar is another win for restaurants at Disneyland hotels! The setting is so relaxed and a perfect respite from the theme park crowds. On top of that, the food was absolutely delicious. Even without much of a value here, I’d recommend going if you have the means. This restaurant will end up being one of our go-to spots for years to come!
