Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will once again fill Magic Kingdom with spirit(s) in 2023. In this post, we’ll cover the new dates announced for the party as well as a few details that Disney has released. Here’s the news, largely via the Disney Parks Blog.

The Halloween Party will kick off even earlier this year, starting on August 11th. This limited-capacity, nighttime event starts at 7 p.m. and allows guests to experience shorter wait times on attractions most nights, themed food and beverage and more. Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green can purchase tickets starting April 27, and tickets will be available to all guests starting May 2. The event dates are:

• August: 11, 15, 18, 22, 25, 29
• September: 1, 4, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29
• October: 1, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 22, 24, 26, 27, 29, 31
• November: 1

Here’s what you can expect at the party!

• Watch Mickey’s Boo-To-You Parade! Your favorite Disney villains are back to stride down Main Street, U.S.A., alongside Disney heroes, the iconic Haunted Mansion graveyard diggers and other favorite characters. You may even spot some ghoulish new faces this year.
• Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular returns! The Pumpkin King, a.k.a. Jack Skellington, will once again host the must-see nighttime spectacular featuring projections, special effects and lighting paired with fireworks, music and iconic Disney characters.
• Trick-or-Treat the night away! We don’t necessarily recommend trick-or-treating all night at the party but anyone who tries to recoup the cost of the hefty ticket price in candy has my respect. Plus, Skittles and Snickers are very good.
• The Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular is back! My favorite entertainment option of the party is the Hocus Pocus show featuring the Sanderson sisters. They bring out different Disney villains throughout the show. Having the setting be right in front of the castle adds some enchantment and makes for a festive atmosphere.

Also during the party, you may have the opportunity to experience some of your favorite attractions including Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the newly opened TRON Lightcycle / Run TRON Lightcycle / Run will use a virtual queue during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, allowing guests to enjoy all the festivities while they wait to enter the Grid. Here are the date and pricing details as well as more information on discounts and advance purchases:

Event Times
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will take place from 7:00 PM to midnight.

Ticket holders will be admitted to Magic Kingdom park as early as 4:00 PM on the valid date of their ticket, giving them even more time to enjoy park favorites before the event begins! These date-specific event tickets do not require an additional day theme park ticket or theme park reservation.

Discounts
Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can save $10 per ticket to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, valid for select event nights.

Purchase Tickets Soon
Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels can begin purchasing Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets as early as April 27, 2023. All other Guests may purchase tickets beginning on May 2, 2023.

This advance purchase window is available to Guests of:

• Disney Resort hotels
• Walt Disney World Swan Hotel
• Walt Disney World Swan Reserve
• Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
• Shades of Green at Walt Disney World Resort

Tickets are limited and may not be available for purchase on the day of the event (or earlier).

Commentary

I’ll keep this short because it’s not even halfway to Halloween yet! Starting on August 11th is very early but becoming the norm for Disney World. Last year the event started on August 12th so they aren’t really stretching things much farther. I am interested in how much farther they can go. Will people not go to a Halloween Party on July 7th? We’ll find out in 2041!

Jokes aside, this party is incredibly popular and if you are interested in going and know what dates you’ll be in WDW this far ahead I would encourage you to get tickets. Last year, every party ended up selling out. Now, not all of them sold out the day the tickets went on sale but it’s better to be safe than sorry on this end.

It’s tough to stomach the higher end of these prices. While I enjoy the party, any price over $150 on this list makes me hesitant to recommend it. Of course, if you have the means and aren’t worried about the perceived value then I think you’ll have a great time! But if you’re looking for ways to save on a WDW vacation, adding a party ticket to the already highly priced park tickets probably isn’t the way to go.

The other interesting thing to note here is that Tron Lightcycle / Run will have a virtual queue during the party. It was strange to see that announced so far ahead of time. I guess they don’t want anyone to buy tickets under false pretenses before they go on sale.

That’s about all I have to say! Not-So-Scary is a great party and I prefer it over the Christmas option.
