10 Tips for 2025 Oogie Boogie Bash

Oogie Boogie Bash is a separate ticketed Halloween party in California Adventure. The event runs from 6-11 PM on select nights from mid-August through October. There are Treat Trails, special character meet & greets, a nighttime parade, walkthrough experiences and more to enjoy. We recently reviewed the 2025 edition of the party and now, in this post, turn our attention to 10 tips that will help you have the best time at Oogie Boogie Bash!

Initially, I set out to do a mini itinerary post for Oogie Boogie Bash. After we enjoyed the party a few days ago, I didn’t really think that was necessary. We did go on a sold out night but didn’t find the party to be overly crowded or hard to get around. In fact, in the review I wrote talks about how I wish there was an addition or two. We were able to complete everything we wanted to at Oogie Boogie Bash and then some!

That said, we did go in with a solid strategy if I may be so bold. I wouldn’t recommend flying into Oogie Boogie Bash blind. You’re already reading this post so I think you’re safe in that regard. I should mention, that we are local to Disneyland Resort, so getting any regular California Adventure activities done was not top of mind for us.

All of these tips will be about the actual party experience. There’s nothing about buying tickets or what costumes are best to wear. The answer to the costumes question is obviously anything Country Bears related though. The tips below aren’t in a specific order but we’ll try to state the preferred times for them. Let’s get to the tips!

Start with the (Minnie, Daisy and Clarabelle) Sanderson Sisters

The most important strategy for Oogie Boogie Bash is deciding what to do first. Treat Trails and character meet & greets will start promptly at 6 PM. Seeing how character waits are generally longer than Treat Trail waits, we recommend starting with the former. Our favorite of those is Minnie, Daisy and Clarabelle dressed as the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus. The costuming is hilarious and the interactions are very fun!

In 2025, these characters are meeting down in the World of Color viewing area. We recommend getting here and lining up sometime between 5:15 and 5:30. This line was regularly the longest of any characters throughout the party. Lining up early will be the best use of your time once party offerings actually start at 6 PM. An alternative here is meeting Mickey (and a few others) dressed in Kingdom Hearts gear as that’s the second most popular meet & greet. They meet behind Carthay Circle, across the pathway from the waterfall and rockwork.

Save Popular Treat Trails for Later

This may seem counterintuitive, as you may start to worry about fitting everything in at Oogie Boogie Bash. The Treat Trails are one of the main things to do at the party and there’s 12 of them! But the popular trails are way more crowded in the first 2 hours than they are in the last 3. Save Syndrome (in Pixar Pier) for after the second parade. Oogie Boogie, Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Hades, Judge Doom, Ernesto de la Cruz and Agatha will all fit in between the two parade showtimes as moving through the lines goes very fast. Maleficent and Yokai’s treat trails (along with the non-character trails in Cars Land and the front of the park) aren’t as popular and can be done at anytime, preferably before the first parade.

Watch Both Parades!

The Frightfully Fun Parade is one of our favorite parts of Oogie Boogie Bash. The characters in between the floats are outstanding and make this well worth seeing. We advise people to watch both showings at 7:45 and 10. This isn’t like a typical nighttime parade where you need to stake out a spot an hour in advance though. Walk up 10 or 15 minutes before the showtime and you should be able to find a spot pretty easily. The closer you can view the parade to start of the route (in between Pixar Place and Paradise Gardens), the more spots there will be. Viewing it at the front will also give you more time for everything else and gets you easy access to the Syndrome Treat Trail after the second parade showing.

Villains Grove After the First Parade

If you’re watching the 10 PM parade down by the start of the route (the space in front of Corn Dog Castle provides some easy viewing) then watch the 7:45 PM showing by The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure. As soon as the parade is done, book it straight to Villains Grove. Other people will have the same idea but watching from that area will give you a head start and the wait should be minimal to get into the immersive trail. Once inside, take your time because this area is gorgeous!

Characters Before the First Parade

We’ve got what to do after the first parade but what about beforehand? We already fit the Sanderson Sisters in. I recommend getting a few more characters done after that. Catching Pain & Panic from Hercules (in between Little Mermaid and Grizzly River Run) before the 7:45 parade lets you out right next to our recommended viewing spot. Before that, there’s characters along Pixar Pier and by Carthay Circle. This is also a decent time to wait for the Kingdom Hearts characters. Everything will be busier in the first 2 hours so having to wait in line at this time is better than later in the night. A caveat to this rule is that you should save the Cars Land characters until the end of the night!

Get Into the Park at 3 PM

Oogie Boogie Bash tickets allow guests to get into California Adventure at 3 PM. We recommend doing just that to get the most bang for your buck. Lining up at the gates for the party around 2:30 is advisable if you really want to fit a few things in before 6. Buying park tickets on a day that you already have Oogie Boogie Bash tickets is generally not worth the money.

For the Magic Key holders out there, get a park reservation for that day and go into the parks through the regular (non party) entrance. Then just pick up your party gear in California Adventure, on the main walkway across from the vineyard. This will save a good chunk of time and is a far more relaxed experience.

An Attraction and Early Dinner Before the Party

Once you’re in the gates, you have until 6 PM before the actual party starts. Like I mentioned, we recommend getting in line for a meet & greet before 5:30. In other words, you have about 2 hours to play with. We don’t recommend cramming that full of activities. There’s time for an attraction (or a couple of smaller rides). Following that, grab an early and filling dinner to get you through the party. Man cannot live on candy alone! But having dinner during the party is a waste of time, so try to eat around 4:30 and then get in line.

Don’t Prioritize Attractions

The conventional wisdom is that party goers should focus on the specialty items that are only offered at the party. We agree with that for the most part! That especially goes for the start of the party, while the day guests are still clearing out and everyone is interested in the big rides. Lines for Radiator Springs Racers, Mission: BREAKOUT! and Toy Story Mania stay fairly long in the first few hours of Oogie Boogie Bash, so stay on target with the party offerings. After the first parade ends, crowds start to thin out and if you’re interested in riding an attraction or two then start peeking at wait times. There’s likely time to fit in a big ride or two, along with most of the party offerings, if you’re strategic about it.

Wear Walking Shoes!

We know you want to fully commit to your costume. Trust us, you look great already while still wearing your best walking shoes! You don’t need to wear Cinderella’s glass slipper or those pirate boots. During Oogie Boogie Bash, we put in 20,000 steps from 3-11. This is basically a full, active park day. There isn’t much time to sit if you want to get as much done as possible. If you forgo this advice, maybe you’re just more committed to the bit than I am. But your feet will thank you the next day if you just go with your best shoes.

Keep Some Spontaneity

Tips like this go against why this website exists. That might be why I’ve buried it in the 10th spot! But we do think that, among everything we’ve recommended in the previous steps, there’s room to smell the roses and stop off at whatever catches your eye. There’s a time to be very mission oriented at Disney Parks but it doesn’t need to be for the full 5 hours at Oogie Boogie Bash. Part of what makes the party special is the atmosphere and environment. Take a few minutes here and there to enjoy people’s costumes, the park’s decor and whatever else strikes your fancy!
