Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package: Is it Worth It?

Planning a trip to Tokyo Disney Resort comes with a few questions. That’s to be expected for an international trip and a theme park resort that operates differently from Disneyland and Walt Disney World. One of the first questions to consider is whether or not to purchase a Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package? In this post, we’ll break down what a package includes, differences in cost and, ultimately, whether we think it is worth booking.

Before we get into the weeds, one of the benefits of booking a Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package is not having to fight the masses for a hotel reservation. There are five Tokyo Disney hotels that you can book a package at – Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Hotel MiraCosta, Fantasy Springs Hotel, Disney Ambassador Hotel and Toy Story Hotel. Some of those options are extremely popular and can be difficult to snag a reservation at when availability opens four months out. Vacation packages can be booked 6 months in advance, so that gives earlier access to the popular hotels.

That’s not to say this is a reason to book a vacation package. More that it’s a perk and added convenience. Not to spoil the rest of this post but the main reason why people might be interested in a Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package is convenience. There won’t be some hidden discount. In fact, guests will be paying a premium for this experience. Let’s get to the breakdown, starting with the basics.

What Does a Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package Include?

Vacation packages will either be 2 or 3 days long and 1 or 2 nights in a Tokyo Disney hotel, depending on what you pick. There are typically a few types of vacation packages to pick from. As of August 2025, there’s the basic ‘Enjoy Attractions and More’ and ‘Enjoy Lots of Attractions’ packages that are generally offered as well as the ‘Enjoy Unlimited Rides on Select Attractions’ package. We’ll largely stick to the first two package as an example in this post.

The difference between them is fairly obvious in the title of each package, specifically the ‘Unlimited Rides on Select Attractions’ option. Most major rides are included in the unlimited rides offer with the big exception of Fantasy Springs in Tokyo DisneySea. ‘Attractions and More’ and ‘Lots of Attractions’ are close to the same with 3 skip the line passes included for a variety of experiences. The cost of the plan does fluctuate based on which 3 experiences you pick in each park.

Along with the skip the line passes (that TDR refers to as attraction tickets), here is everything else included in the vacation packages:

  • Park tickets for Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea (assuming a 2 day package)
  • 3 Attraction Tickets Per Day (Skip the Line Passes)
  • Hotel Stay
  • Breakfast at Your Hotel
  • Popcorn Bucket Voucher x 1 (per guest room)
  • Shoulder Bag
  • Original Goods Voucher x 1
  • Beverage Ticket x 1

The top half of this list is self-explanatory. When booking the package, guests will have the chance to add multiple dining reservations. Those will add to the cost of the package. The only one that guests aren’t able to bypass is breakfast at the hotel you’re staying at, it must be booked and will be included in the plan.

Both the Popcorn Bucket Voucher and Original Goods Voucher add a little bit of value to the Vacation Package. The popcorn bucket is a soft case and does come with popcorn on the first go around but no refills. All flavors of popcorn are available! Along with the shoulder bag, the Original Goods Voucher includes a choice of a plushie, blanket or cushion. The original goods are subject to change and the monetary value is likely around $10-$15 USD per person.

Of the smaller items, the drink ticket is the most valuable. This will give guests access to unlimited (non-alcoholic) drinks in the parks over the course of the vacation package. There are a few that aren’t included but most drinks are. If you like coffee, soda or want to try some of those specialty Tokyo Disneyland drinks you’ve seen on Instagram, then this is an easy way to do it.

Cost Comparison

There’s a number of ways to do this cost comparison. I’ve decided to pull from a few dates in the next 4 months so we can compare the exact same thing – hotel stay, park tickets, breakfast and skip the line passes. I’ll look at rooms for 2 adults in both cases. That will just leave the extra souvenirs and drink tickets outside of the cost comparison. Those are worth a couple of hundred dollars, at most.

Since I’m doing a straight across comparison, I’ll point out that there are much cheaper ways to visit Tokyo Disney Resort. Staying at one of the official hotels on the monorail loop instead of the Tokyo Disney options will save you a good chunk of money. Skipping a buffet breakfast and not doing any Premier Access (TDR’s version of Lightning Lane) will also save money. In short, if you’re looking to do Tokyo Disney Resort on a budget then this is not the way to go.

We’ll start with a 2 day, 1 night vacation package a month from now on a Tuesday and Wednesday in mid-September. For this particular date I selected the Toy Story Hotel, the cheapest of the vacation package offerings. That means breakfast would be at Lotso Garden Cafe. I’ve included the big 3 Fantasy Springs attractions (Frozen Journey, Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival, and Never Land Adventure) for DisneySea and Enchanted Tale, Happy Ride with Baymax and Splash in Tokyo Disneyland. The USD amount is based on the exchange rate of August 16th, 2025. That will obviously change but the point is to see the difference in cost. Just a reminder that the costs I list in the non vacation plan section are for 2 people.

Vacation Plan Cost: $1,171 (172,000 yen)

Non Vacation Plan Cost:
Toy Story Hotel – $307 (45,000 yen)
Park tickets – $264 (38,600 yen)
Premier Access Tokyo Disneyland – $68 (10,000 yen)
Premier Access Tokyo DisneySea – $82 (12,000 yen)
Lotso Garden Cafe Breakfast – $49 (7,200 yen)
Total – $770

That’s a $400 difference. You’re going to have to drink a lot in 2 days to make that up. Let’s say a couple manages to drink $200 worth of soda and coffee in 2 days, which is not a healthy choice but an impressive feat! That’s still another $200 to make up and the other additions to vacation package cost $100 at most.

Let’s try out a weekend 2 day package at a different hotel – November 15th and 16th at the Disney Ambassador Hotel. I’ll keep the other details the same.

Vacation Plan Cost: $1,543 (226,600 yen)

Non Vacation Plan Cost:
Ambassador Hotel – $572 (84,000 yen)
Park Tickets – $297 (43,600 yen)
Premier Access Tokyo Disneyland – $68 (10,000 yen)
Premier Access Tokyo DisneySea – $82 (12,000 yen)
Chef Mickey Breakfast – $65 (9,600 yen)
Total – $1,084

You can see that the cost differential has only gone up on the weekend at a more expensive hotel.

After sampling a few other dates, hotels and packages, the price difference only goes up with a more expensive hotel and the 3 day package. You may have noticed that I didn’t included the ‘Unlimited Rides’ package and that’s because it’s far more expensive than the ‘Lots of Attractions’ package. That is a true splurge and is usually 50% more expensive than the other vacation packages. That’s not to say it isn’t worth exploring, it just made less sense to compare the prices as that plan offers something completely unique.

Is the Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package Worth It?

The numbers in the cost comparison say no, the TDR Vacation Packages are not worth it. We stand by those numbers, for the most part. Guests will definitely save some money by the package and instead just booking everything the package offers. Chances are that you don’t need all of that stuff either, so you’re likely to save even more money. That is unless you can pack drinks away like a camel and really think that the shoulder bag is worth nearly $100. Honestly, you can probably book all of the things a 3 day package offers and add a 4th day and it will still be cheaper than the actual plan.

That’s all from a numbers perspective though. There is a level of convenience that the Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package offers that you can’t find by doing it all yourself. More hotel availability is offered, everything is booked at once, and the drink ticket is a good amount of fun. Does that mean it’s worth it? Probably not. But it’s enough to make me pause and not outright advise against the plans.

I am more interested when the plans offer something unique. The ‘Unlimited Rides’ is an interesting offer, even if it is extremely expensive. That would make for a very memorable 2 days! The same went for the Fantasy Springs Vacation Package (no longer offered) which provided something unique.

That’s ultimately where our recommendation falls. Treat the Tokyo Disney Resort Vacation Package as a huge 1 night splurge if you are interested in it. Get the biggest and best thing they offer! But if you’re just looking at the packages as a way to go to Tokyo Disney Resort, it’s far more cost effective to stay away from them and book everything yourself.
