Journey under the sea with Ariel and friends starting on May 27, 2025, when this all-new theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic The Little Mermaid opens. No need to hold your breath, May 27 will be here before you can shake a dinglehopper.

These performances will kick off on May 27th! With multiple showtimes each day, guests will have plenty of chances to experience this.
A new collage highlighting the characters guests know and love from The Little Mermaid has arrived, leaning into the animation-inspired style for the full production.

Commentary
Having two new shows open up on Hollywood Studios on the same day is exciting! Technically, I guess this isn’t really a new show but it’s been so long since the theater has been in regular operation that it might as well count as one. That, plus the new changes coming to The Little Mermaid will make for a nice addition to the park.
I’m especially looking forward to the puppetry in this musical adventure. That particular skill isn’t used often anymore in stage shows. I think the Nemo musical in Animal Kingdom is the only other WDW spot? There’s a little bit used in Festival of the Lion King, as well, but that’s a little bit different.
My hope for the show is that they don’t overly rely on digital effects and that as much of the show as possible is live. I’m eager to see the changes they’ve made, it’s been a long time coming. Here’s hoping for a few new excellent additions to Hollywood Studios!

I won’t be returning to WDW for a long time, but I’ll check out this show from afar because I’m curious about how the new puppets will turn out and I love that they’re going to include the opening “Daughters of Triton” song in this revamped version!
