Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris Being Renamed Disney Adventure World

Disney announced today that the second gate at Disneyland Paris will be changing names in the near future. A host of updates came along with the announcement that Walt Disney Studios Park will be renamed Disney Adventure World. In this post, we’ll share the news and updates about the park before adding our commentary about the name change.

Get ready to experience beloved Disney characters and stories like never before as Walt Disney Studios Park, the second park at Disneyland Paris, continues its transformation and expansion on a never-before-seen scale — starting with a brand-new name for the destination! The location will be renamed Disney Adventure World coinciding with when World of Frozen opens, bringing with it a new creative vision that will nearly double the park’s footprint and transform it into a world of adventure.

As Walt Disney Studios Park begins its reimagining to Disney Adventure World, soon guests will be able to experience a brand-new park entrance. That sequence welcomes visitors to the park’s promenade, Adventure Way, along with new experiences, attractions, and enhancements designed to transport them right into the heart of memorable Disney stories. Disney Experiences isn’t just turbocharging (they really love this phrasing right now!) the park itself, though, as Disney Village will also be receiving enhanced offerings. And when it’s time to wind down at the end of the day, new updates are coming to the Disney Hotels, too.

“Embracing a transformation that involves the overhaul of more than 90% of Walt Disney Studios Park since its debut in 2002, we’re unveiling a fresh creative vision that has completely redefined our second gate,” Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris shared. “It’s set to offer unique adventures in immersive worlds, serving as a perfect complement to Disneyland Park.”

And this is only the beginning as Disneyland Paris enters a brand-new era!

Disney Adventure World will mark the beginning of a brand-new story, which starts with the park’s new entrance sequence in spring 2025! You’ll be transported into a vibrant, contemporary open-air movie studio, World Premiere, and welcomed to a glamorous movie premiere in the heart of Hollywood. The current “soundstage” décor will be replaced with all-new pieces paying homage to historic movie theaters.

Once outside, you’ll find yourself right in the middle of World Premiere Plaza, the new Art Déco-inspired theater district, currently celebrating Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios. If you’ve been in the park recently, you may notice Walt Disney Imagineering Paris teams are already hard at work turning the former central square into something quite special.

You can already visit Avengers Campus and Worlds of Pixar but soon another immersive location will open at Disneyland Paris: World of Frozen! Here you will be able to journey to the kingdom of Arendelle – in fact, you may notice its remarkable North Mountain and colorful facades slowly coming into view as construction continues.

Adventure Bay at Disneyland Paris

New Entertainment Awaits at Adventure Bay

The wintery home of Queens Anna and Elsa will be located along the edge of Adventure Bay, a majestic lake surrounded by picturesque banks and a promenade at the heart of the park’s expansion. It will serve not only as a gateway to the new themed worlds that will surround it, but also feature a unique entertainment stage with a 360-degree viewing area. Complete with fountains, music, lights and special effects, it will be fitted with the latest technologies for water-based entertainment.

That’s just the beginning! We can’t wait to share more in the future on a brand-new immersive world whose concept and design are currently being finalized by Disney Imagineers.

This new, table-service restaurant will offer you specular views of Adventure Bay along with a chance to meet some of your favorite Disney Princesses.

There’s more going on outside of new offerings and a name change! From hotels to entertainment, the entire resort continues its multi-year transformation, but are you ready to know what you can expect to see at the Disneyland Paris resort as soon as this year?!

Transformation Continues at Disney Village

Disney Village continues its transformation as the current shops are gradually being redesigned to pave the way for new experiences! This makeover includes the introduction of a new Disney lifestyle shop and a Disney home store by the end of the year, plus the current Disney Store will also be reimagined later on. We’re also excited to confirm the refurbishment of the LEGO Store, including new photo opportunities, awe-inspiring big builds and interactive play stations.

Waddle Over to New Disney Davy Crockett Ranch Bungalows

Earlier this year, Disneyland Hotel reopened its doors with a regal makeover, but that’s not all! Disney Davy Crockett Ranch bungalows are receiving a new look, too. The project will start this year and elevate the hotel’s theming with nods to the Junior Woodchucks, together with Donald Duck and his friends.

Commentary

I haven’t been to Disneyland Paris so I’m not the person to ask about all of these changes. Walt Disney Studios Park is widely considered the worst Disney theme park in the world so wholesale changes are a good thing. Along with that, I’m in favor of major expansion. That seems like where all of this is headed, even after the World of Frozen finishes up.

That certainly should be the case as everything that’s addressed in that news share feels more cosmetic than it does substantial attraction offerings. I appreciate that, as it should lead to a more cohesive theme if the park’s expansion is realized. The next decade should be very exciting at the soon to be named Disney Adventure World.

I’ll stay away from commenting on the park too much but I will address the name. It’s okay. Want more of a take than that? My biggest reaction is that the name is bland and that the company is really stuck on the word ‘adventure’ right now. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and now Disney Adventure World. That’s all on top of Adventureland in their castle parks, plus others that I haven’t mentioned. Let’s bust out that thesaurus, friends!

If the ‘adventure’ bit of it feels generic (it does) then the Disney World part of it feels confusing. Having 4 parks make up (Walt) Disney World while another park by itself in France is Disney Adventure World is a tough sell. Imagine trying to explain that to someone who knows nothing about theme parks!

On the other hand, it’s very tough to name a theme park and eventually they all seem to just settle into their names. For example, I didn’t like Epic Universe (Universal Orlando’s upcoming park) as a name at all when first announced. I thought using the word epic, which has been extremely overused in the last decade would age poorly. Now, a few years later, I think it’s just fine.

That’s probably where Disney Adventure World will end up too. Would I have rather they found different words than ‘Adventure’ and ‘World’? Absolutely. But does it seem to fit the theme of the park they’re hoping to construct? Yeah! And that’s the most important part. In the next few years we plan to visit this resort and I’ll actually be able to comment on specifics. Until then, I hope the resort keeps spending money to make cool things!

  1. I’m not one to comment on the changes being made to Disneyland Paris because I’ve never been there before, but I do think the name “Disney Adventure World” is very lazy.
