Happy Super Bowl Sunday and go Hawks!

Every Sunday all of our writers get together and answer a Disney related question. Here’s this week’s question and responses.  Before we get to the question, here’s a quick primer on what we’re talking about if you didn’t already read about Disneyland’s 60th anniversary announcements.

Question of the Week: Announcements for Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary came out this week, saying that there will be a new nighttime parade, a new World of Color show, and a new fireworks show. Which one has you most excited?

Melissa H. – I am not going to lie – a little part of me is bummed about this whole 60th Anniversary Celebration because it’s leading to a LOT of attractions being closed while we are there next week. However, a much larger part of me is so excited to see what all of this is going to look like. I would have to say that I am the most excited for this new nighttime parade. I grew up with the Main Street Electrical Parade and absolutely loved it. As a child at Disney, all the lights and characters had to be one of the most magical moments for me. It just wasn’t the same when they moved the parade over to California Adventure and now fans of it have to travel to Florida to see it. This kind of feels like the whole Toy Story 3 and Monsters University thing to me – an addition (or update) to a known and loved piece of Disney for those of us who grew up with it. It looks like I am going to have to be planning another trip while all of this is going on!

Andrew –  I’m tempted to pick World of Color because I think a show dedicated to Walt Disney is going to be really interesting but in the end I have to choose the new fireworks show. First of all I love the nostalgia in Disneyland firework shows and now that they are using projections the walls of Main Street and other attractions to enhance that… I’m really looking forward to seeing how all of that looks. I’m very excited for all of these additions though.

Leslie – I would have to say I’m excited most for the new fireworks. I love fireworks (when I know they are going off) and enjoy watching them. I’ve never been much of a nighttime parade person and I haven’t seen the old World of Color yet. So I don’t feel so excited for a new one. More bummed I won’t get to see the original in person.

Kelsee – I am most excited about World of Color. I think a tribute to Walt is a wonderful and unique idea. Everything will be great but this will be a beautiful presentation of Walt’s journey.

Melissa L. – They all sound really fun and I can’t wait until we get to experience them all, but I would say I am most excited for the parade. Parades have always been one of my favorite things to experience while on a Disney trip and this new one looks AMAZING. Disney is always so innovated with their floats and I can’t wait to see what they have come up with for this new experience.
