There comes a point in a full theme park day where you just don’t want to wait anymore. The feet are throbbing, the sweat has had time to dry twice over and all of the phone games have become half as interesting as they were when the day started. Usually this happens in mid-afternoon when the sun is the hottest and the lines are the longest but the longing for no lines can strike at anytime! In this new series, we’ll talk about our favorite attractions that have next to no line regardless of the time. We’ll start the series with Magic Kingdom!

Not to confuse anyone, this series isn’t about the best time to go on popular rides. Refer to our itineraries for that! This post is dedicated to attractions that don’t really ever have a line, outside of waiting for loading or the next show to start. Does that mean there will be a few listed that aren’t exactly the highest quality? You betcha! But others are certainly hidden gems. I’ll be putting my favorites of what’s listed at the top before working our way down to ‘rides that have no lines because they are terrible’.

That said, even the worst rides provide a time to sit in some air conditioning. Your mileage may vary on what’s a good ride and what’s not, don’t just take our word for it. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure unless that trash was Stitch’s Great Escape. Then it’s where it rightfully belongs – in the trash.

Looking to Magic Kingdom, the park is almost always busy and it can be hard to find something that you don’t have to wait half an hour for. Heck, I’ve waited half an hour for food in that park! Thankfully, and unlike a few of its Disney World brethren, the park has a wealth of attractions so a few creep out of the wait time abyss.

A few attractions just narrowly miss the list in Magic Kingdom. Mickey’s PhilharMagic is perfect for the list except for the times where there’s a line outside of the building. That doesn’t happen often but keeps it from making it. As far as actual rides, Journey of the Little Mermaid and The Barnstormer miss the mark because they do have lines once in a while and if that’s the case then they should be skipped. Finally, Carousel of Progress is usually a walk on but I have had to wait a while for it. If it weren’t for those waiting experiences then it would certainly be on the list. Let’s get started!

Country Bear Jamboree – The absolute crown jewel of not waiting comes in the form of animatronic bears singing hokey country songs. It’s hilarious and one of my favorite attractions in the park. That there’s never a wait to see the show makes it all the more worth it. I’ve written plenty on this website about Country Bear Jamboree so I won’t go overboard here. In short, Disney just doesn’t make attractions like this anymore – a perfect mix of silly fun for the whole family, with enough strange lyrics to make you double take. Again, all sung by bears.

Liberty Square Riverboat – I’m a sucker for a slow boat ride and Magic Kingdom’s Riverboat is no exception. Setting sail around Tom Sawyer Island, the boat offers brilliant views of the park that you couldn’t get elsewhere. The downside here is that there’s no air-conditioning but if you stay on the bottom or second level then you’ll be shaded. My favorite time to ride the boat is right as the sun is setting, as the temperatures cool down and the lighting is just right. Thanks to the very high capacity and being a less popular attraction, the only time you’ll wait for the boat is if it’s already on a trip around the river.

Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room – You can’t go wrong with the classic, right? Like Country Bear Jamboree, this attraction comes complete with a seat, AC and singing animatronic animals. In this case, they’re birds. The Tiki Room works all of these years later, with lively characters and catchy songs. I will say that of any of the six attractions I’ve listed here, this could possibly pose a wait because the theater isn’t huge. That said, I’ve never had to wait for the show!

Tom Sawyer Island – Maybe you’re really ready for a break from people? The best way to do that without leaving Magic Kingdom is Tom Sawyer Island. There’s caverns and forts to explore, like an oversized playground. Guests take a raft to get there and while that may be a little busier, once on the island there will be far less people than anywhere else in Magic Kingdom. The drawback here is that Tom Sawyer Island is only open during daylight.

Hall of Presidents – Unlike the other attractions mentioned so far, I think Hall of Presidents is outdated and prime for a change. What it does offer is some impressive animatronics and a long rest inside of an air-conditioned building. This is a prime location for a nap! That’s not to disparage the show itself, more that napping in a Disney Park is serious business. The theater is so large that the only wait involved is for the current one to end!

Swiss Family Treehouse – This is last on the list and I hesitated to put it on at all. I did simply because the attraction never has a wait but that’s because it’s a walk through. That said, it’s an interesting walk through that offers unique views of the castle and park! The details and design are fun and it’s an easy place to pop in when you’re sick of standing in line.
