Disneyland Resort to Open to Out-of-State Guests June 15th

In another step towards normalcy, Disney announced today that Disneyland Resort will be allowing out-of-state guests to return to the theme parks on June 15th. Since reopening in late April the parks have only allowed California residents into the parks. In this post we’ll talk about the news as well as a few other changes the resort is enacting.

Obviously, this is great news as all of us who have been dreaming about visiting Disneyland now can. The only restriction on people will be whether they can get a park reservation or not. Having said that, the Disneyland website does say the following:

“The State of California strongly recommends that all Guests be fully vaccinated or obtain a negative COVID-19 test prior to entering the theme parks. As always, our procedures may change as we continue to update our health and safety processes based on guidance from the state of California and local health officials.”

The other change to operations will be that guests can book a park reservation as far as 120 days in advance instead of the previous 60 day window. This obviously benefits those that are planning a bigger trip and likely coming from out of state. While I don’t think availability will be a huge issue, if you know your dates now I do recommend booking ASAP especially if you’re planning to be there on June 15th.

The entire state of California is planning to open up to a broader degree come June 15th so this announcement isn’t much of a surprise. Along with that, I expect capacity to dramatically increase over the summer months. While the restrictions in place will (mostly) go away on that date, Disneyland will likely take it a little slower when it comes to adding capacity just like what’s been done at Walt Disney World.

I think the last bit of news is that the parks won’t require proof of vaccination although it’s strongly encouraged by the state. This, again, isn’t surprising since Walt Disney World doesn’t require proof either. Unless rates spike in California, I don’t expect that to change.

There’s not much to add to this news outside of “Yayyyy!” With Disneyland reopened to all guests and Avengers Campus opening on June 4th it should lead to an exciting summer at Disneyland Resort!

  1. WOOHOO!!! I AM PUMPED!!! I may not return this year, but hopefully next year I can return to the happiest place on earth!

By the way, do you think we have to get vaccinated every year? That’s what I’m worried about.
