Rose & Crown Dining Room is a table-service restaurant in Epcot’s World Showcase.  There is a bar attached to the restaurant, as well.  Rose & Crown serves British pub fare, fitting the UK Pavilion location.  The restaurant does accept an Annual Pass Discount, Tables in Wonderland, and the Disney Dining Plan.  We recently dined at Rose & Crown and this review will cover that experience along with our photos and thoughts on the restaurants value.

I’m not a picky eater and love most types of food.  Those favorite type of foods don’t include pub food.  It’s not that I dislike it, I just don’t find it particularly interesting.  Most of what is offered is heavy and saltier than I’d like.  Having said that, Rose & Crown has a good reputation.  With a prime location on World Showcase’s lagoon and a few dishes that border on legendary status among Disney World faithful, I was excited to dine at Rose & Crown and it did not disappoint.

Attached to the dining room is a bar (or pub) that has a good selection of drinks and a few food items, including Fish & Chips and Bangers & Mash.  The menu isn’t as interesting, food wise, but it’s a good option if you don’t have a dining reservation and want to grab a quick bite to eat.  Inside the dining room has a pub feel, as well, although portions of Rose & Crown have a more homey feel to it.  Pottery and wooden cabinets adorn the walls while the warm tones make the restaurant feel comfortable.

We had a bigger party when we dined there so we sat outside.  Our table wasn’t exactly equipped with great views of the lagoon but some areas of the patio would offer views that I’d recommend over the dining room.  Unfortunately, you’d have to find a time of day where the temperature feels comfortable.  When we ate there it was surprisingly cold.  Most of the time, it would be quite humid.  If you hit the Rose & Crown patio after sunset most nights I think it would be one of the best atmospheres in Disney World.

Moving on to the menu, Rose & Crown had a decent amount of options.  Here’s a closer look at the menu.  While I didn’t end up with them, the Curry, Salmon, Bangers & Mash, and Short Ribs all looked and sounded interesting.

I instead went with Fish & Chips.  The fish (I believe it was cod) was large and the batter was flaky.  There wasn’t much grease on the fish and I enjoyed it far more than I do the counter-service stand in the UK Pavilion.  The fries were decent, better than most of Disney World but not all that memorable.  All in all, the dish was good but not outstanding and I’m not sure I’d pay the $23 for it again.

Melissa went with Shepherd’s Pie, which we both thought was exceptional.  The lamb and beef inside was peppery and full of flavor.  The vegetables, including potatoes, all elevated the dish.  I especially liked the sauce as it tied everything together.  At $22, this was a better dish and more filling than Fish & Chips.  I would happily order this again.

For dessert, we ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding.  I’ve heard many people rave about this dessert and I was eager to try it myself.  The pudding cake was warm, soft and gooey.  The warm vanilla custard and hot-butter rum sauce were both sweet and gave the whole dish a ‘melt in your mouth’ element.  This is now one of my favorite desserts in all of Walt Disney World and I would happily go back to the restaurant for just this dessert.

As for Rose & Crown’s value, I think there are some interesting options and the price point is much lower than some other table-service restaurants in Disney World.  If you are paying out-of-pocket, this is one of the better options as far as value goes.  Even better if you have a discount of some kind.  As for the Disney Dining Plan, Rose & Crown doesn’t offer as good of a value unless you go with the Short Ribs.

Price aside, Rose & Crown offers some interesting options that are all made well.  While I wouldn’t put it in the upper echelon of Disney World restaurants, I do think it’s a very good option for those that don’t want to break the bank (relatively) but still want to dine at a table-service restaurant.  There are some excellent options like the Shepherd’s Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding and the ambiance of the restaurant is solid albeit unspectacular.  You could do much worse for a table-service restaurant at Walt Disney World than Rose & Crown.
