Questions of the Week

Question of the Week (1/3/19)

Every few weeks our writers get together and answer a Disney related question.  Here is this week’s edition!

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: A very broad question – What is one Disney thing you wish for (either personally or for the company to do) this coming year?

Andrew – For my big wish this year, I won’t go with something personal but instead something I hope the parks do. With the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, I hope that both American resorts add temporary entertainment to areas outside of the new additions.  This will help spread out the crowds some. Ideally, I’d want this entertainment to be something more than extra meet & greets. A couple of years ago, Hollywood Studios added a show with a live orchestra playing Pixar music. I would love additions like this for both crowd dispersion and from a personal standpoint. Sometimes the best part of going to a Disney Park is the entertainment you stumble upon.

Melissa – My wish for Disney this year is that they start to take a step in the direction of caring about their parks and customer interactions more than they do about making money. One of the things I loved most about Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea is how much they didn’t care how much they spent, they just went all out to create the best possible attraction and then kept it running at full capacity. It was awesome and the US parks would be rewarded for doing the same.

Also, a very silly, selfish wish…I would love for Disney to give me an all expense paid trip to visit any park for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! 😉

Leslie – Disney thing that I wish for? I mean aside from my wish to see all the Disney parks it would be a more interactive Disney atmosphere. What I suppose I mean is I would like more things like Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure, Aulani’s Menehune Adventure Trail. Things like this make just walking around Disney more fun, free up lines, and honestly build memories. Extra credit if you get something to take home like Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom.  This maybe an element the Star Wars Resort might bring with the interactive piece but we shall see.

Darin – Personally, I wish that Hollywood Studios is fun in 2019. Others have a good memory of how it used to be and I only have the memory of a mostly shut down mess. With Star Wars, Toy Story and an actual Mickey ride things are looking up.

Mackenzie – For some reason this is a hard question for me, but I do wish for more hard ticket events for Disneyland. I know they will be doing a 90’s Nite in March but I do hope they continue. This is inviting to me because Disneyland is crowded and when Galaxy’s Edge opens it will get much worse. So I hope they are prepared (in both land and world) for the crowd levels. I also agree with Melissa, that a trip to Galaxy’s Edge would be fantastic as well.

  1. My Disney wish is that they’d release the details (or at least ideas and possible iteneraries) of their three new cruise ships that are coming! They should release at least some info by end of year on the first ship coming in 2021 since booking could possibly start later this year.

    • I definitely think that your wish will come true. I’d expect an itinerary for the 2021 booking by mid-summer or so. Not sure about the other ships yet but some sort of an announcement will be made this year for 2021, I would think.
