Why Disney?

Disneyland fireworks

Welcome to Wandering In Disney.

In early May of last year, I was sitting on board the Mark Twain river boat.  My wife and I were in the middle of a 6-day trip at Disneyland with friends, and we were on the first deck of the boat, sitting next to the railing.  Every now and then I would get up and snap a few pictures, but for the most part I just sat and relaxed.  As we stared out across the Rivers of America that washed up on the shores of Tom Sawyer Island, I was content.  In the midst of one of the busiest places in the world, I was completely relaxed and in an intimate setting.  Disneyland Barnwood

Whenever starting something new the first question to answer is, “Why am I doing this?”  In this case, why are five adults, in their twenties, starting a blog about going to Disney Parks?  It’s a fair question.  For me, there are three answers.

The first answer is that I want people to enjoy going to the Disney parks as much as I do.  I hear people complaining about having to take their kids to Disneyland and I feel bad for them.  There are so many ways to make your vacation so memorable and enjoyable.  Disney Parks truly have something for everyone.  We want to share those ‘somethings’ with you.  If you’re going to a Disney Park and are a little worried about your experience, we want to help put those worries to bed by sharing our own experiences and any tips we know.

We also started this blog so that we could continue the magic as we sit at home and aren’t in the parks.  Anyone who’s gone on vacation knows that coming home from vacation isn’t very fun.  Once I’m home, it takes me, and the other writers here, approximately an hour and 23 minutes to check out various Disney blogs and daydream about Disneyland Corn Dogs and Expedition Everest. This blog will be a way to help keep the ‘Magic’ going even after we’re home.  Whether it’s the reader who just returned from a Disney vacation or the writers, we look forward to extending the thoughts and memories of our vacations with you.

Last but not least, the reason we started this blog is to extend the Disney Fan community.  Over the last few years I’ve started to get involved in this community and it’s full of great people.  Lou Mongello of WDW Radio, Tom and Sarah Bricker of Disney Tourist Blog, and A.J. of The Disney Food Blog are just a few of the great people I’ve followed over the years.  Like any community, the Disney Fan community is full of people who care about each other and use the Parks as a way to show that.

We want to further that community.  Please comment in the posts, email us whenever you want to, and join in our discussion.  We’ll start to give opinions on topics over the next few weeks and months, but we want to hear about your opinions too.

Kelsee, Leslie, Melissa H., Melissa L. and I are very excited about starting Wandering In Disney.  I’m really excited about having this introduction post out-of-the-way so we can actually get into writing about what we love to write about.

We know we can’t emulate the emotion of Tinkerbell flying overhead as fireworks shoot off behind a castle or the thrill that comes with gliding through the darkness on Space Mountain.  But, to us, nothing can.  That’s why we’re going to write about them!  Thank you for reading and we hope you enjoy the blog.

Here’s a quick look at what’s coming up the rest of the week:

Tuesday – A favorite quiet place in Disney Parks
Wednesday – Tips on utilizing ‘Baby Swap’
Thursday – A look at the application process for the Disney College Program
Friday – Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Review
